Peggy's right. If all you have to say is "I'm seek asylum" at the German border and you instantly get a generous monthly stipend while you wait for your hearing for months, then big surprise that the poorest of the poorest country in Europe are flocking for a few months of free cash.

It's unfair to blame Serbia for what is essentially a German problem

==================================
Then complain to your local member of parliament about it.
We can think whatever we want of Germans because of our history. The fact that your country allows this is not our fault.
Take away the incentive and you will stop it.

Things going above your head again? Why does their ethnic background matter? They're Serbian citizens or citizens of Serbia, yet they're leaving their country for a reason. Isn't Serbia a state of all it's citizens, you know a multi ethnic entity with equal rights for all, regardless of ethnicity religion or sexuality...or is it something else?

@Comm. Parrison,

Turn it around which ever way you like but we all know the economic situation in Serbia. And don't compare a 5 years country with Serbia who according to you guys is the "power house" in the Balkans.

Most of those Serbian "citizens" are Kosovo Albanians who use their Serbian passports if they can't get anywhere with their Kosovo ones.
(Navi, 17 September 2013 16:32)

If this is true, than the obvious solution is to recognize Kosovo and stop handing out Serbian passports to Kosovo citizens.

Can't have it both ways. If Kosovo is Serbia then you need to give Serbian passports to them.

Of course, this isn't actually true as Kosovo citizens get Serbian passports from a different department and they are not good for visa-free travel. This was a condition of getting visa-free privileges. Lots of people don't know this, so I'm here to inform you :)

"i don't know if Germany has published the ethnicity of the asylum seekers..."
(Nikolle, 17 September 2013 17:12)

Nope, Germany officially doesn't publish these date, because of political correctness. Just like in other statistics where it's well known that immigrants have a much higher criminality rate, but it's not allowed to say that because it is considered 'ethnic discrimination'. Amazingly, the gender of the criminals is counted and published, this is not considered discrimination.

To become a asylum seeker is verry lucrative. According to our german law " Asylberwerberleistungsgesetz " a family with 3 children in the age between 6 and 13 will get the following income for each month till a court has dicided about the claim. For the head of the household: 354.- Euro; for the wife: 318.- Euro; for each child: 274.- Euro = 822.- Euro. total per month: 1.494,- per month. Some of this sum in cash, a part in non cash benefit. Again it is lucrative to come to Germany, special in winter time. In the rest of the Year you can complain about us Germans, how dangerous etc we are..
But collect the money ( for nothing ) Oh what a paradise...

"...Serbia are either Roma or ethnic Albanians from Presevo region. "

let us even say this is true (i don't know if Germany has published the ethnicity of the asylum seekers...) what is your point? surely its the duty of serbia to make its citizens are looked equally after? or do you think its ethnic discrimination is correct?

I doubt there is any meaningful basis for any of these applications.

It would be interesting to hear the percentages that are accepted and the reasons for acceptance.

@Navi
Not to the European union buddy, holders of Serbian passports issued to Kosovo citizens require a visa to visit the Schengen Area. Their passports are issued by the Serbian Coordination Directorate not the MUP (ministry of foreign affairs). Everyone knows this.
99.9% of Asylum seekers from Serbia are Gypsies/ Roma. It's not Serbia to first encounter this phenomenon.

"Serbian citizens top asylum seekers' list in Germany"

Correct wording. Citizens. Everybody knows that 90% of these bogus asylum seekers coming from Serbia are either Roma or ethnic Albanians from Presevo region.

And interesting to see that, relatively to the population, Kosovo is on top of the list. Strange, I always thought the European governments created Kosovo as a democratic, multi ethnic state where minorities are respected and nobody is persecuted because of ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, political opinion etc.
