"Serbia allocated calling code to Kosovo"

After <a href="http://www.b92.net/eng/news/politics.php?yyyy=2013&mm=09&dd=09&nav_id=87588" class="text-link" target= "_blank">yesterday's meeting in Brussels</a>, Kosovo will get the calling code 383, said Aleksandar Vulin, adding that this number "is not given, but only allocated."

The use of a separate code does not entail recognising sovereignty. Taiwan is not a member of the United Nations or the International Telecommunication Union, but it uses the code +886, despite being considered a province of China.

Whatever you said, this is an international state code! The important is that Kosovo will get this code, not the way how will get! And this code will be given and registered in ITU as international code of one country.

GOK is going to apply for a telephony area code from ITU. I don't think allocate is the right word to convey the message --- try cede / cedes.

As far your claim that calls Kosovo to Serbia will only be charged local prices --- well I'm not sure how that will be possible. Perhaps, he means to say that this Serbian telekom that will operate will do some backdoor accounting but ITU is pretty strict about these things..maybe telekom srbija can get away with it for a while but they risk losing their license.

I think the biggest blow is that until yesterday belgrade insisted that the only way Kosovo could a code is if a 3rd party applied on its behalf; well look no more.

I have seen this guy giving interview in the past and I do not understand how he is still allowed to speak to people. Everything he says to his people is the opposite that has or will happen. Serbian media knows it but some serbian people still believe his trash and then they get upset when they found out the opposite

We certainly don't need to be dependent on Serbia for anything and that includes communications.

Who ever said Albania can't come through with sharing their 292 or even applying for another number?

By the way no self respecting Albanian will ever knowingly call Serbia and hence no need for their number.

Asked whether he was satisfied with the agreement, Vulin said that it was "not a matter of satisfaction," and that he "would be satisfied if Serbian laws applied to the whole of Kosovo and Metohija."

I guess you are in for long ,long wait for Serbian laws to be applied in Kosova, or I should say in your dreams body. You will never see that movie ever again.

As for phone country code, stay tune when you do search on country codes in future.
