This is great news from EU. It is all about protecting the horror crimes comitted by the UDBa during the communist times. Its not about the wars & Croatian generals. Milanovic has strong connections with ex communists & is scared of him & his close colleagues of being exposed to certain activities that would jeopardise his position. He is using propaganda (ie Croatian generals, war operations in danger) to get support from the public & it ain't working. To back up my claim Pupovac the Serbian minority politician strongly supports Milanovic with not complying with the EU.....is it because to protect Croatian generals & war operations leading to Croatian independence or to protect communists crimes commited during Yugoslavia times to preserve Yugoslavia together. Germany helped Croatia divorce Yugoslavia remember.....so why would they go against themselves....they rank communist down the bottom of the ladder.

Peggy: You are right and wrong at the same time. It's not a case of "these conditions SHOULD have been placed on Croatia...", they WERE placed on Croatia but like so many other instances in the past(Romania, Bulgaria, the Euro membership criteria)the EU simply didn't insist on the conditions being met. This will happen repeatedly across the Balkans as it becomes clear that the countries in the region are unable to reach the standards that the EU requires. They will either have to water down the requirements/turn a blind eye or accept that further expansion isn't possible.

I believe there are many Croats who should be punished for their actions during their war against Yugoslavia. But the European Arrest Warrant is not how this should be done.
=======================
Why not, what else is there?
Hague let them go so how do we round them up and jail them?

These conditions should have been placed on Croatia BEFORE they were allowed to join. Now is a bit late.
All this was placed on Serbia before they were even considered.

Well done Croatia you fought for your Independence from Yugoslavia, and know you give it away.Say goodbye to your sovereignty, bend down and smile it won't hurt a bit.Serbia look at your FUTURE.

The European Arrest Warrant is a surrender of national sovereignty. The Croat leadership knew this before they joined the EU. The issue of a former UDBA agent is the least of Croatia's worries. If one of the Serbian Diaspora in the EU makes a complaint against a Croat policeman or soldier then the Courts in Britain, France or Germany could issue an arrest warrant for those Croats named in the complaint. The Croatian government would be forced to arrest its "war heros" and hand them over to foreign courts to judge. Thousands of Croats could be arrested and transferred to foreign prisons while they awaited trial.

I believe there are many Croats who should be punished for their actions during their war against Yugoslavia. But the European Arrest Warrant is not how this should be done. This issue will cause Croatia many problems over the next few years. Joining the EU will be the death of Croatia.

Send this traitor to face trial for murder. All former members of Udba should be tried and given long prison sentences. The family of the deceased should sue the Croatian government for pain and suffering and refusing to hand him over to the 'appropriate' authorities. This person is scum of the worst kind...I wouldn't be suprised if he was also somehow involved in the Bruno Busic murder.
