Serbia really needs The Marshall Plan. Serbian people faced poverty after the two-decades of political instability and economic crisis like Europe after The Second World War. The most important goal is to rebuild economy, to restore agricultural and industrial productivity. This can be achieved only with assistance of experts.

Everything you said is true, but do note that in many countries foreigners govern. For instance Singapore and even Great Britain (Canadian man is a governor). And probably, foreigner is going to be an advisor, not a minister. We'll see

Most of politicians in Serbia are reluctant to do serious reforms in the civil service. Vucic took responsibility by engaging the young and not too much experienced economist, but enhanced with a vision and with good will to carry out those "unpopular" moves. He deserves a support of all citizens and political structures in Serbia, because it is needed for success which will undoubtedly come.

I didn’t know that
xenophobia was so pronounced with someone who swore by Europe.

It's not xenophobic to not want a foreigner to GOVERN Serbia. That's not displaying any hatred towards a persons race or ethnicity, what country gives gov't ministries to foreign 'experts' ?

Vucic is however on point with what he says about the diaspora bringing its resources back to Serbia. That is beyond doubt Serbia's best opportunity to modernize its society any time soon. But I still withhold judgement on Krstic. It's the right idea obviously but don't forget Bozidar Delic aka mickey mouse was also from the diaspora and the media was saying the same things about him when he came back too. But now he's just another yellow-ist criminal. Lets hope Krstic is not that.
