So, you're saying that just because Serbs expelled most of whoever was in Kosovo before Serbs arrived there, doesn't mean it is not their land and Serbs are the undesirable element there.

Tell you what, why don't you invite all the Albanians living in Serbia to take their place. The population can exchange their residences and all will be happy.
Will that make you happy?

This is very well documented by EULEX, UN and even NATO officials.

However, here is an extract from Croatian sources:

“…. the newspaper quotes the words of Croats from Janjevo, who state that, with the arrival of the KLA to this town, provocation from Albanians has commenced, provocation that "the Croats found increasingly hard to bear".
A couple of days ago, disturbing information on the destiny of the Croats from Janjevo has arrived to the Croat embassy in Skopje. It was said that the members of the KLA maltreat them and that the Croats were once even lined before a firing squad…”
Zagreb newspaper quote the words of the Croats from Janjevo, who state that it was easy for them while "the Serbs were in power" in their town. No one bothered them, they could get food and cigarettes through Serb policemen and the Serb army and, when leaving, a Yugoslav Army unit left 350 kilograms of flour for the Croats at the local bakery…”
The newspaper adds that parish priest Matej Palic tried to negotiated with the Albanians, in the hope that "reason will triumph, but they had to move".
Croat sources not Serb.

“...., when has the Kosovar 'society' displayed ethnic hatred against say the Turks, Croats, Egyptians? “
I have yet to see an intelligent Albanian making comment on this site. But you my friend have taken the proverbial cake. In 1999 after NATO came into Kosovo your Albanian human rights loving brothers kicked out ethnic Turks, your brother Croats, Roma and everyone that was not an Albanian. In fact Roma of Muslim faith suffered terribly under the kind hands of their Albania friends so they live close to Serbs settlements. This is very well documented by EULEX, UN and even NATO officials. You have no idea what you're on about
Now on the issue of crime, yes they have shut a few Serbs but that was to be expected as star chambers are nothing but that. However, the Albanians fill European prisons and even Hollywood uses Albanians as the new criminals not Serbs.

Croatian volunteers I can believe, but the others are Albanians from those countries.
Yes, two from Australia, David Hicks and the good doctor from Adelaide. But who is the doctor and what ethnic background is he? David Hicks was also fighting in Afghanistan because he is a Muslim convert and we all know that converts are nuttier than the ones born Muslim.

Croatians will join the devil if it meant killing Serbs.

(Ian, UK, 31 July 2013 12:36)
===========================

Can you point me to some link or reference that verifies that?

This is what he says.

"in the early '70s, we were surrounded fairly much by vast expanses of market gardens - lots of market gardens, run by mainly Italian immigrants, so it was a very multicultural part of Adelaide. Well, my father met my mum in 1959, when Mum arrived in Australia, as a refugee from Yugoslavia."
---
He mentions Yugoslavia not Serbia.

Here is something else:

PETER THOMPSON: That grandfather of yours, Frank...

DR CRAIG JURISEVIC: Yes.
----
Frank is not a Serbian name. Try Croatian Franjo which is Frank in English.
=======
And here are your non Albanian volunteers.

"DR CRAIG JURISEVIC: The KLA were by no means virtuous and angels. There were criminals and killers amongst the KLA, but where I found myself at that point in time, at that location, the majority of the KLA were refugees with guns. Many were also Kosovar or Albanian expatriates from Germany, the United States, who volunteered to come back and fight."

Since you love this doctor so much then you must trust what he says and what he clearly says is that Albanians from various countries came back to fight NOT Germans, French etc. but Albanians who live in those countries.

OK Ian, ask an average Russian what he/she thinks of a Serb and then ask an American, English or any other western person what they think of Albanians. You will have your answer.
Did any American volunteer to fight for Albanians during the war like so many Russians volunteered to fight for Serbs?
Now that's real love not interests.
(Peggy, 31 July 2013 01:17)

A Russian would be friendly towards a Serb yes, but a Russian Politician would think of Russia only.

If you asked an average Brit what they think of Albanians, they'd say "they're Eastern Europeans" in a derogatory way. But that would be the same answer as to what a Brit would think about Serbs, Russians and anyone from a former Eastern Bloc country.

@Comm

Very interesting Comm. that you use the word society so freely. I'm sure you have no idea what society actually means. Tell me one thing, when has the Kosovar 'society' displayed ethnic hatred against say the Turks, Croats, Egyptians? Out of curiosity, are Serbs a society that is also based on ethnic hatred? Looking at The Hague, you'll notice I'm sure that most of the prisoners happen to belong to a particular ethnic group convicted of ethnically based genocide. You have no idea what you're on about. Very bizarre to me, that an apparent Euro enthusiast should resort to generalisations oh so freely.

I mean realistic not unrealistic such as substancial authonomy or kill 1.8 million albanians and take over Kosovo. "
(Mirel from Albania, 30 July 2013 16:45)

I'm not a Serbian commentator, but a realistic solution would be a split of Kosovo along ethnic lines, the Ibar would be a great border. For the remaining Serbs in the southern parts, there should be autonomy and protection, and if the ethnically motivated crimes in Kosovo still continue, there should be a territorial exchange: Presevo against the Serbian enclaves.

The Serbian cultural heritage in Kosovo, some of them being UN world cultural heritage, should be guarded and protected by internationals against Kosovo Albanians trying to desecrate or damage it.

The idea of a democratic multi-ethnic Kosovo was good, but it was only an idea, and maybe naive from western powers to think you can bring democracy and tolerance to a society based on ethnic hate and clan mentality. Smart people try to find something else if an idea turns out not to work.

Can Putin ask Serbian authority to get a visa for visiting Kosovo?

***

Yes, I think this can be easily and effortlessly arranged. Although, frankly, as the President of the permanent member of the UN Security Council, which safeguards and guarantees Serbian sovereignty in Kosovo pursuant to the UNSC Res. 1244, he almost certainly does not require a formal visa from his Serbian hosts. I am doubtful that he will be stopped by the Serbian immigration officials to check his status on his entry to the territory. And I do not recommend that Eulex officials do anything of a kind either.

Of course, he and his entourage may be harassed by the Albanian chauvinists and extremists, but this has nothing to do with the host country's (Serbia's) visa policy.

Beth,

I beg to differ with you. Most of us send money home to our families. I do honest work, like most Albanian Kosovars. I have nothing to be ashamed of. The Serb gov't forced many of us to leave Kosova many years before the 1999 war because Milosevic removed many of us from our jobs. Finding work in Western Europe or America was the only way to support our families. I'm sure you would have done the same if you found yourself in my position. I am glad you never had to go through what many Albanians from Kosova had to experience. However, this only made us stronger and probably helped us win the war.

WRONG!!!

South Ossetia declared independence on 28 November 1991. The 2006 referendum was on supporting the status quo. The 2006 referendum question was "Should South Ossetia preserve its present status of a de facto independent state?".

Abkhazia first declared 'sovereignty' aka independence on 25 August 1990. The 1999 DOI was just a reconfirmation of the status quo.

But both have been de facto Russian Oblasts since the early 90s, Russia's recognition didn't change anything; it was just an attempt to legitimise their occupation. Russia hasn't fulfilled their promise of independence, this is why popularity for Russia is declining in ABSO.

And yes you got something wrong but won't admit it, so you have to change the subject and bring up UK economics. Yes civil servants are going to be loosing their jobs as the Coalition has brought in Universal Credit aka one combined single benefit instead have people claiming benefits from 30+ different government agencies. This will reduce administration and benefits abuse/ culture. Some legitimate claimers will unfairly lose out on it, but it will stop hundreds of thousands of cheating the system, the lesser of two evils I say. These lazy work-shy sods will have to get a job or the lazy gits can live on the streets instead of living off the taxes which I pay! The UK should copy Germany's benefits system tbh!

I hope Asia does invest more in the UK, it will help our economy to grow even more.

Serbs should just nod their heads and thank for the nice words Putin utters once in a while and focus more on their economy and cooperating with neighbors that are in the same boat as Serbia vs hostile muslims.

What most Serbs agree with-my German pretending Albanian friend, is that the current solution to the conflicts of ex-Yugoslavia are not just nor a sustainable reality but there are other more immediate problems facing the daily lives of Serbs living in the Balkans.

There are many living in Serbia that believe this Serbo-phobic policy by the West is permanent and here to stay, but those people are simply not looking at the bigger picture. Western policy changes all the time and is hardly consistent. It is however up to the diaspora Serbs to provide a more accurate image of Serbs within the communities they live in.

The discourse that actively supporting the occupation of Kosovo i Metohija is going to lead to a better future is a myth and many people are waking up to it even in Serbia.

As for "Milosevic dreams", Kosovo i Metohija is much more important than Slobo's entire existence. That's because Kosovo i Metohija is before this insignificant leader in Serbian history.

In case you really are German (doubt it), your hatred towards Serbs was before Milosevic too. While your traditional allies in the Balkans signed up for your oppressive attempts to control Europe, Serbs always took the responsibility of ridding the region of German domination.

I think this is why the Serbian government ignores the 63% of serbia who say Kosovo is independent! They are trying to have good ties with Russia who is using Kosovo being part of Serbia to deal with he humiliation of 1999 when Russia was totally ignored when NATO went to war! The comments from dizzy diaspora Serbs here show what kind of thinking they follow, and it certainly has nothing to do with what we call democratic.
I had the distinct pleasure of experiencing Serbia first hand during this past week and I must say these Serb ex-pads have not much to do with the Serb population in general. They live in a different world, still wrapped up in the old Milosevic thinking, where the real Serb population is faced with completely different problems. When it comes to the economic condition there is no big difference between Kosovo and Serbia; it's equally bad. Some people here call Kosovo a hell hole, well the same can be said about big parts of Serbia. People in Serbia had it with all the old talk and want to see a future. They do not want to fight a loosing battle about Kosovo, and finally want a future, just like the kosovars. All this energy list with fighting against each other is a wast of time and money. We have to count on the Patriarch to save Serbia from its politicians. It really says a lot about the people running Serbia. I do not blame the Russians when they say that they cannot be bigger Serbs than Serbs themselves however, in this case they will have to be if they want to keep Serbia on their side, otherwise the corrupt gutless government will sell the country entire out.

Kosovo will never be part if Serbia ever again, and most people in Serbia actually agree with that. Looks as if those politicians in Belgrade actually do not represent what their own people want....

South Ossetia and Abkhazia had troubles with Tbilisi since the breakup of the Soviet Union. ---
He mentions Yugoslavia not Serbia.

Here is something else:

PETER THOMPSON: That grandfather of yours, Frank...

DR CRAIG JURISEVIC: Yes.
----
Frank is not a Serbian name. Try Croatian Franjo which is Frank in English.
=======

Kosovo will never be part if Serbia ever again, and most people in Serbia actually agree with that. Looks as if those politicians in Belgrade actually do not represent what their own people want....

I beg to differ with you. Most of us send money home to our families. I do honest work, like most Albanian Kosovars. I have nothing to be ashamed of. Finding work in Western Europe or America was the only way to support our families. I'm sure you would have done the same if you found yourself in my position.

Did American Volunteers fight for Albanians during the Kosovo War? Yes

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/323739.stm

As did Australians such as Craig Jurisevic. He is of Serb heritage btw.

It wasn't just Aussies and Yanks fighting for the Kosovars in the Kosovo War. There were also Foreign Volunteers from Sweden, Belgium, the UK, Germany and the US (again), source: [link]

From France, source: [link]

And from Croatia, source: [link]

Croatian volunteers I can believe, but the others are Albanians from those countries.
Yes, two from Australia, David Hicks and the good doctor from Adelaide. But who is the doctor and what ethnic background is he? David Hicks was also fighting in Afghanistan because he is a Muslim convert and we all know that converts are nuttier than the ones born Muslim.

Croatians will join the devil if it meant killing Serbs.

I can tell you what the poms think of Albanians. Albanian criminality is entrenched in the UK so you can guess what the poms think..

Pathetic comments here from supporters of Kosova. It's obvious that they don't have a clue, thus depend heavily on handouts from Kosova's corrupt Western allies and Kosova's drug trade. Nothing to be proud of there.
(Beth, 30 July 2013 14:45)

I beg to differ here because I'm a big fan of the excellent analysis of the CE of B92 forums sj which has shown beyond any doubt that the corrupt West is broken and has collapsed and thus in no position to hand out anything. Only powerful and rich countries like Serbia, Russia and China can make handouts.

P.S. CE = Chief Economist

There are many living in Serbia that believe this Serbo-phobic policy by the West is permanent and here to stay, but those people are simply not looking at the bigger picture. Western policy changes all the time and is hardly consistent.
(Ari Gold, 29 July 2013 18:48)

You are absolutely right. If Serbs behave, the West is with the Serbs (like it's been in the past). If Serbs misbehave, it's obvious the West will be "Serbo-phobic". It's not about the West waking up one morning and saying today I want to be Serbo-phobic just for hobby...

What foreigners are you talking about? These volunteers are all Albanians working in those countries. The Croats wouldn’t give you guys the time of day as they threw out all Albanians out of Croatia during their operation storm just like your Albanians kicked out all Croats from Kosovo in 1999.
Where do you get this stuff form? You seem to have a lot of time on your hands lately. Have they made you redundant from teh civil service?

=======

Albanians are deluding themselves if they think they are wanted anywhere.

We unfortunately have to put up with them because Tito made it very easy for them to pour in and breed like crazy.

Ever wondered why the non Orthodox republics don't have Albanians? Someone made sure that only Serbia was polluted the most and their lovely Croatia or Slovenia wasn't. All the bad element went to Orthodox republics.

Croatia in the last 500 years has been polluted by Orthodox elements. With pollution remaining at 4% I'm sure we can clear the air once and for all so we can all breathe alot easier.
