Not exactly. The word Kosovo is an abbreviation of the Serbian 'Kosovo polje'. Your 'ottoman' reference probably means that there has been a province called 'Kosovo' under the Ottoman empire.

For facts instead of thinking (or should I say 'wishful thinking') please have a look here: [link]

P.S: And I'm sure that after this educational lesson, you will be able to find out what the meaning/translation is. Little hint: It's not 'low field'.
(Comm. Parrisson, 18 July 2013 12:39)

Totally irrelevant to the topic or for solving anything today, but I must say that I found the above information fascinating

And even if true, my point still remains. It was called something else before the Serbs came, so maybe we should just revert back to that....you know go back to its point of origin.

I thought the word Kosovo originally appeared in Ottoman documents meaning low field? Ether way, it matters not one iota, the name Britain was coined by the Romans for the people who lived in the area we now called Great Britain. Place names only tell us who the ruling people are/were, nothing else.

As for Mr Vulins objections, sooey. Go write another poem about another glorious defeat as your people are so adept at doing.

You forgot Illyia. So: Dardania-Illyria, like it has been since 2000 years! Kosovo a Serbian word, you expert! And you want to be an Albanian? Probably an ignorant US citizen you are!

(a New Day, 17 July 2013 18:10)

Nope, status neutral would be Kosovo*

(*=Without prejudice to positions on status, and in line with UNSC 1244 and the ICJ Opinion on the Kosovo Declaration of Independence.)

Serbia agreed that pristina would appoint the commander of north Kosovo police so any army is unnecessary because pristina controls the police.

Did he just resort to saying what most commentators and politicians have been saying for years about Kosovo/a that they want it but not really the Albanian people for the past few decades?

I love how politicians play games with the poor people. All they want is good government, a good judicial system, no corruption and jobs. Then you get a dirty politician who's a nationalist trying,to misinform and scare the locals. Shame on you as a human being first and as a politician second. You will say anything to hold onto your positions and damn the people. Shame on you!

Yep Vulin, what a speach if it wasn't to advertise the bottle of water. You think Serbs belive you but they started to know that you only look after your pocket and dont care about them.

Oh, and by the way, the term Kosovo-methohia, is a obsolete Serbian version!
It is & always has been Kosova-Dardania!
Please, try and not forget that. It is an insult!!!

I hate to break it to you, but no one outside the Qeleshe-wearing compounds of Shqiperia Etnikie and Brooklyn pizzeria fronts for UCK call it "Kosova - Dardania". The accepted international name is simply "Kosovo", not even the bastardized "Kosova" as you frequently and erroneously call it. In fact, I'll take it further and say that "Kosovo and Metohija", clearly a Serbian take on the territory, is more appropriate than whatever you think it's called. Sorry, but it's not an "insult". It's just empirical facts - something you clearly get angry at when confronted.

Amazing how a land you think always was yours is referred to via an Albanianized variant of a Slavic word. Now I'm sure your little patriotic belch on B92 made you feel better, but please take your dignity into account the next time you want to educate the rest of us on world history and current events :)

"I am afraid that, if things keep going like this, we will come to a conclusion that Priština perhaps wants the territory but not the Serbs. The Serbian government will not agree with that and will not allow it," Vulin concluded.

Oh, a bit late, that conclusion. In that way, the majority of Kosovo Albanians wishes a similar thing than Milosevic: An ethnic clean Kosovo - just different ethnicity.

This is a very comical statement from someone who represents a govt that has kept the Milosevic dream alive for 14 years post war of a Serbian Kosovo free of Albanians.
I do not believe that anything in the agreement says anything about status neutrality, as status has not been touched on in the talks and status neutrality does not and never has meant that Kosovo is referred to as a Province. So if Serbia wants status neutrality it must refer to Kosovo as Kosovo and not its southern province.
Cannot expect Pristina to be status neutral and Serbia not.

I wouldn't worry about any "saber rattling" from Pristina. They usually try to sound tough when they're about to be forced to make another concession, so whatever threats they're saying about some Kosovo "army" will be an empty one since one of their newspapers last week reported that the draft-budget for the first part of 2013 leaves the KSF without any money to buy ammunition. Unless Ceku plans to use foul language and a few rocks, whatever army Kosovo thinks it's going to get won't be much of a problem :)
