AND - it matters that pristina has declared independence and all All the Serbs know that goig in these elections mean that they support Kosovo independence. It is why Serbs voted in their own elections. Osce involvement is a major reason why Serbs should not vote because they are working for pristina.

Serbs voted a few years ago in Serb organized elections and not pristina elections and all parties are registered in Serbia. voting in these elections does mean total recognition Of Kosovo independence.

So if Serbs register parties and vote they will be recognizing the independence. If they do not register and vote Albanian parties will and they will win majority, even in the 4 municipalities in the north. Either way it's a win win for multiple ethnic Kosovo. They can prove they are civilized by voting in free and fair elections or they can show that they have no hard feelings by letting Albanians have a turn in running the north. I smell the democracy already.

Serbia, should consider it a token of good will, this privilege given to the Serbs of Kosova, by the government of kosova!
I wonder, would Serbia allow the Albanians of Presevo, Bujonovac, and Medvedja to vote in Serbia's elections, with Kosovar or Albanian documents???

Pristina has no authority to run elections in territory Serbia supposedly claims.
Brian,
Maybe you should read UNSC 1244. The authority to call elections were originally granted to UNMIK, which per 1244 transferred that authority to the elected govt of Kosovo(Pristina). Serbia has never had the authority to call local elections in Kosovo since 1999. As long as 1244 stands the international community will only recognize those called by Pristina, thus the reason OSCE is involved.
Any election called by either Belgrade or the north will not be recognized and will not be funded. If funded by Belgrade then it will end the ascension process quite possibly placing Serbia behind Turkey on possible admission.

Serbs have voted in Belgrade run elections and Kosovo Serb run elections and voting in these is recognizing Kosovo independence. Pristina has no authority to run elections in territory Serbia supposedly claims. All parties are already registered. Any reregistering is recognizing Kosovo independence. Serbia wants all Serbia political parties to abolish themselves in Kosovo! These elections are about Kosovo independence.

"No one from today's political elite knows whether the elections will happen, you should ask the British or American embassy, and in order to get reliable information you need to see Michael Kirby (U.S. Ambassador in Belgrade). He will tell you whether and when the elections will take place," Jakšić stressed.

New elections or not, whatever. But let's hope that in the next elections the DSS clowns finally fall below the threshold, so we don't have to read their utter nonsense published here every other week.

Better U.S. Ambassador, than Russian ambassador. It's better for Balkans to consolidate and integrate with the EU than to remain chaotic playground of external forces and inner particular nationalisms.
