But according to you the US no longer has any significance on the world stage so I would think that you would spend all your time reading about the countries that influence the world first and that would leave very little time to read about the US.
As far as the statement. I will not deny that the US could fall as history has shown that all great empires have, but I am saying it will not be in our lifetime.

“If America falls I have a feeling I will no longer be around to see it, nor will you.’
I read to stay informed and not just news from the US, but this statement is just breathtaking. It says it all.

sj,
But at least you will be insulated from the big collapse, I mean how low can the cost of a Ricksaw cost?
But really if things get bad you have a vivid enough imagination to create a whole different world. I liked the comment about the hotel outside the transit zone, that was a rich one and you knew this because of a secret meeting with Putin himself?
If the US is such an unimportant figure on the world stage now, why are you so engrossed in what is happening?? Aparently you read more US news than most non Americans. It must be pretty important to you. If America falls I have a feeling I will no longer be around to see it, nor will you.

And I must say that people like you that live in the US never cease to amaze me with your level ignorance and total reliance on your “free press” for information.

This man Snowden should be upheld as a hero for alerting the people to the evil that your government is perpetrating against its own citizens, but like brainless zombies the vast majority only believe in what they are told because their government upholds “free speech and democracy”.

Ben Bernanke made a statement that soon stimulus money would have to be cut off and the stock market plummeted. On Monday he then reversed his earlier statement and said that stimulus money will continue as long as is necessary. What do you think this means?

The US is addicted to printing money to stay afloat. So what do you think is going to happen? Well one day all of this will come crashing around your necks, but hey you have a caring government.

No Snowden is not in Russia by a fluke. The US expected Hong Kong to arrest him but Beijing rules Hong Kong lock stock and barrel.

He then went to Russia to decide which country he should seek asylum. He now has 20 offers to date, but he favours Venezuela and Peru because they are close to “home” for his family to visit him

My statement was only “tongue in cheek”. He is in a hotel next to Moscow airport not the lounge as has been reported.

It may surprise you that Obama’s attendance to the G20 is of no concern as a country that now owes $17.5 trillion and rising to exceed well over $18 trillion by December it matters little. The boiling frog is well into being cooked. Pricing rising in the supermarket while wages have not moved anywhere in the last decade and an economy addicted to stimulus money.

The Chinese have asked their people to buy local and they have done so – this is a first ever in the world so they are now well on their path to being self sustaining with very little reliance on the US economy. Why do you think Australia was the first western country to declare the military takeover in Egypt a military coup??? Because it cannot live without China. The Japanese are the same.

The picture is not quite as you paint it. Snowdin is only in Russia as a fluke, it was a transit point of travel but got stuck due to loss of his US travel papers. He just now requested temporary asylum from Russia since he has no other option at the moment. So people are not defecting to Russia.
In a sweat shop in Malaysia Obama not going to the G20 summit in Moscow is no big deal. On the world stage though a boycott will be seen as a big deal and one that Putin would not like to see. If Putin was interested in sticking it to the US Snowdin would not have been held prisoner in a transit area of the airport for months.

I’m sure this is amusing Putin to no end. How cruel fate can be on the US. Two decades ago you had people coming from Russia seeking asylum but today the shoe is on the other foot. I listen to a State Department official say that Russia has a duty to hand him over because Snowden was only spreading propaganda against the US. I’m sure I heard something like this before and sure enough the Soviet Union used the same words on several occasions after defections.
I doubt that Putin will lose a moment sleep over Obama not coming to St Petersburg.
I wonder why are the human rights groups are so quiet? Where is that famous Human Rights Watch?
And they wonder why most have a contempt on these so called do gooders.

Obama is really worried. Torture happens in every country and prisoners get killed in every country. Russia/US no difference there.
Australia is not different. High profile prisoners get killed here too.

Pot, kettle.

"And what he says sounds quite convincing, because the U.S. still administers capital punishment and torture," the lawyer concluded.

That's true, unfortunately. While in Russia, there's no official capital punishment, but prisoners get tortured as well, and some even died in Russian prison.

Unlike in the US, with the largest percentage of its citizen in in the West and riven with crime and wide-spread rape. Democratic crime and rape that is. I'm sure it makes all the difference.
