Religion is a beutiful thing. It unites people. If more people had faith the world wouldn't look like it does. Wars are not caused by religion but by man. We will aways have some excuse to fight eachother. If not for religion, etnicity, power and money then for chearing on the wrong soccer team or belonging the a rival gang. We humans are corrupt. Religion is telning us how to be better people and to help other humans and ourselves. Not sure what religion you belong to to hate it so much but it can't be Christianity.
Maybe because people still want to keep traditions like their ancestors did. There is nothing wrong with religion, the problem is the fanatics that interpret their religion in the wrong way. In Serbia our traidition is bound with a lot of wonderful traditions for example everyones slava that is celebrated in a traditional way with a lot of friends and family members.
To some of my Muslim "brethren" who are observing Ramadan I wish you good luck and though the month of fasting is somewhat of a struggle what it's teaching me is to not take sustenance for granted and therefore to appreciate it more as much as possible.
