"countries like Poland were able to take full advantage of the sinking ship, and where able to reach the top of the ship and avoid any contact with water. "

Don't tell that to this forum's chief economist, sj. He has his own special information/facts.

As for Serbia following the Swiss or Swedish model, I think you might have to be Sweden or Switzerland to do that.

@MikeC
You have a point, I agree the EU doesn't want them in, it's obvious and they admit it, but the EU will be forced to let them join, maybe just before hell freezes over. Regarding the sinking ship, I agree, but remember that countries like Poland were able to take full advantage of the sinking ship, and where able to reach the top of the ship and avoid any contact with water. While other EU countries' where in recession, their economy was and still is growing. Whether Serbia joins or not is a decision to be made by the citizens in a referendum, if they say no then Serbia can follow the Swiss or the Swedish model (or the Icelandic), most importantly Serbs should not remain second class citizens in Europe and Serbia should become a prosperous country, that's what we all want. Haters can hate forever.

Next EU members : Montenegro and Serbia.
Accession year: 2018/2019/2020/2021
Then: Albania and Bosnia.
Accession year: 2022/2023/2024/2025
Kosovo*: 2030
Who agrees?

I agree...with some minor Changes:

Next EU members : Montenegro and Serbia.
Accession year: 2018/2019/2020/2021
Then: Albania and Bosnia.
Accession year: When hell freezes over
Kosovo*: When hell freezes over
Who agrees?

However, all albs and bosnjaks shouldn't feel sad. I hope Serbia never joins this sinking ship we call the European union. The Eu is a big misstake, just like when Columbus discovered America.
