EU Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fule said that June 28 "will enter the history books as the day when Serbia started its accession talks with the EU."
It's really needed after the disastrous image across the world that Serbia (i.e. the remainders of YU, then Serbia/Montenegro) created under Milosevic in the last century.
Wherever you stand on your views on the Balkans, barring the rednecks and hypernationalism that can be found here, Serbia has made progress in regards to its image.
Whether its forward thinking or the result of just plain reactionary to the spanking they got in the 90's is debatable, it is still a positive outcome.
I think that this time many things are changing in Serbia. The image that the goverment is giving to the country is better, but still many things need to be done in order to improve the situation.
