All the pressures regarding EU membership and recognizing Kosovo are over after tomorrow.
(Paul, 27 June 2013 22:34)

No it doesn't, it will truly begin tomorrow. Germany has said that talks can begin in January if X, Y & Z are done by December. Germany is using Serbia's EU membership bid as a carrot on a stick. Every time Serbia gets to the next stage in it's EU membership bid, Serbia has to had to have done something in accepting Kosovo independence more & more each time.
Serbia had to de facto accept Kosovo's existence, agree to negotiate with Kosovo as a requirement for EU candidate status, this has since led to the establishments of boarders & customs with Kosovo.
Now Serbia has agreed to abolish & dismantle her institutions in Northern Kosovo & establish a lasting agreement with Kosovo, all so Serbia can get a provisional date for EU accession talks.
What will Serbia have to do to get to the next step? Remember there are going to be at least 35 acquis chapter which need closing. If Serbia closes all 35 acquis chapters with the EU's approval at each stage, what will happen next? What will Serbia have to do then? Serbia is going to encounter big big big problems when defining it's territory with the EU. Serbia needs the approval of all 28 member states before Serbia can be admitted.
What do you think the final hurdle will be for Serbia? Serbia will have to at least de facto recognise Kosovo & sign an agreement where it cannot block Kosovo's EU membership bid.

They certainly are - almost all the barricades have been removed and the roads repaired.

As long as you continue to smoke, drink, guard the bridge and the roads on some filthy villages, your friends
in serbia proper are getting educated, sending their kids abroad to be educated, ( see Vuk Jeremic case), living better lives, and laughing at you ; how naive can you be. One life, enjoy, love don't have !

Having the right to vote also means having the right not to vote. However if one decides not to vote, then one should not have the right to complain about the outcome of the vote.Anyway, I thought according to Serbs, Kosovo isn't independent and is under UN rule; therefore these elections according to them are in line with the PISG per UNSCR 1244, so why shouldn't they vote?

BA is totally wrong on just about every single thing about the agreement Serbia and kosova reached. Every single thing done in the north will be under pristina control. They have no autonomy on anything. The power of the osm is nothing. They don't have any powers that aren't about how to implement dictates of pristina! Like all Serbian police and the Serb police chief are all under the control of Albanians at all times.

Tomorrow the 28th of June, will we know for sure whether talks will begin on Serbian membership in the EU. This is, of course, no guarantee that Serbia will ever be a member of the EU or that Serbia will always want to be a member of the EU. The next step is the decision for actual membership. All the pressures regarding EU membership and recognizing Kosovo are over after tomorrow. Once the EU acknowledges that Serbia might be an EU member as it stands, then the future of Kosovo as an independent country are up to debate again.

Meanwhile, the Serbs in Kosovo have to deal with the situation on the ground. And they are doing a good job. They are letting their government in Belgrade manage the big picture and they are managing the local picture which is what their job is in any case.

The important thing is to keep the peace and keep up talks between Serbs and Albanians over Kosovo

"“It is up to the people, and no one has yet given an answer whether someone could be registered in two electoral rolls, whether they would be able to vote in parliamentary and presidential elections in central Serbia or they would vote for Kosovo president and the Kosovo assembly,” he said."

Not sure what's so mind-boggling for Pantic! It's very simple... Every person in Kosovo is free to decide whether to vote for Kosovo's President & Assembly, for Serbia's President or Assembly, or for both. Not sure whom he is waiting the answer from! Doesn't he know already that Serbia allows voting of Serbs regardless of where they live http://www.b92.net/eng/news/politics.php?yyyy=2012&mm=05&dd=05&nav_id=80098?

November 3 is very close to the December review time to decide if January is a go or not. Maybe someone needs to be talking to this guy. Plus if Serbia cuts the salaries and there are no elected officials in north K there will be no one to hand the money over to from Pristina. May be a cold winter.
Part of the agreement is Pristina will have the power to call elections. If the north do not wish to participate in the state elections is only their loss. Not participating in the local elections is definitely their loss.

It is too late for north Kosova serbs to protest kosova independence as they already cooperate with the border guards and customs agents on the border between kosova and Serbia! All south kosova serbs embrace kosova independence so its all a north serb issue but they already cooperate with the border guards and customs agents!

I think it would be funny if Albanians not only participated in these elections specifically geared for Serbs but if they actually somehow won seats in an organization that's largely, if not entirely, autonomous from Pristina :)

In all seriousness, the north fought the good fight long enough and ZSO KiM is their reward. They have an opportunity to basically make an RS in Kosovo and if they don't want to participate in November, it's their loss.

No problem. There are enough Albanians left in the villages up there to man the offices, and when they take over, those who were forced out can return.

Do they know how to read and write or will they depend on Skype calls to India to explain how things work? Will they be paid in Kilos or grams?
