U.S. fears whistleblower has "thousands of documents"

Snowden’s disclosure is called a magnificent act of civil disobedience. During an interview with another whistleblower, Thomas Drake, he stated that he blew the whistle on a massive fraud, waste and abuse of multi billions of dollars and was charged with crimes that would have seen him in prison for 35 years. He beat the charges simply because everything he said was the truth and proven beyond doubt plus the public was on his side.
Drake said that Snowden exposed secret US actions that violated privacy and human rights laws on a massive scale. He also said that the contents of the “material revealed the vast, systematic, institutionalised industrial-scale Leviathan surveillance system that went well beyond the original mandate to deal with terrorism”.
In the case of Drake he revealed the US oligarchs enriching themselves. While Snowden proved that the US is preparing for tighter and tighter controls on the population as economic conditions become worse and I can guarantee that they will very soon.

As reported by Reuters, there are concerns that Snowden took many more documents than originally thought, and special attention is given to his contacts with WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.

Every country on the planet assumes that other governments are trying to spy on them all the time. Snowden gave them the details of how we do it. In what alternate reality is that not treason?

If he did this to promote transparency, he chose the most reckless, irresponsible way imaginable.
