No, it's not like 'almost all Balkan countries', this massive election fraud is present only in Albanian (and, of course Kosovo). You cannot compare to to minor irregularities in the neighboring countries.
(Comm. Parrisson, 25 June 2013 15:17)

Unfortunately Tomislav begs to differ about the "minor" part in the neighboring countries like Serbia:

OSCE, wich has not been shy at pointing at irregularities in previous elections, would disagree with you. They sey free and quite fair.
Your analysis is outdated at best (you probably never been to Albania recently) , and malicious at worst. Stop spreading non sense.

Everything is going smoothly.
The armed incident had nothing to do with elections, was a banal dispute.

I know u like to throw mud at Albanians, but the elecions are going very well.
(Mirel from Albania, 24 June 2013 17:49)

Oh yes, very well, and very smoothly. Both candidates claim victory, at the moment. Apart of that deadly 'incident' (of course totally unrelated to the elections) and the already mentioned small 'problem' with the electoral committee, I read about other incidents like people voting without having to show their ID, polling stations opening with delays, several violent fights in front of polling stations, more voters than ballots, single voters voting for whole family clans, and some more...

Okay, you could say this means 'going well' according to Albanian standards, but no, you Albanians failed once more holding democratic, fair and free elections.

P.S: If you think mentioning the cruel truth is 'throwing mud', I can't help you, sorry.

You Serbs are a joke and we all know it, look at all the behinds you have already had to kiss just to get a EU accession talks on the way.
Serbia is living in the 90s they will never move on because they are butt hurt.
(Albanian, 25 June 2013 02:00)

Hey albanian, it must real burn you up that with all the turmoil that Serb's have been through the last 2 decades, they are constantly being courted by the EU. Hell, the EU still hasn't responded to albania's 2009 EU candidate application. Notice how albania, bosnia and turkey are all in the same boat with regards to the EU, they don't want muslim countries in the club.

"Yes we have had problems with elections as well as almost other Balkan countries. It's too bad. The free elections are the foundation of democracy. I wish it was different, but unfortunately it's not easy to create democratic institutions . Especially considering that Albania went through the worst communist (no pan intended) dictatorship in Europe while Kosovo went through one century of colonized occupation by Serbia/Yugoslavia.

You cannot compare to to minor irregularities in the neighboring countries. And to excuse these things with 'communism' and 'Yugoslav occupation' doesn't address the real problem, which is horrendous corruption, clan mentality and lack of general understanding what democracy means.

I just hope the winner of the election doesn't celebrate with a large cake in Tirana. We all know how that will turn out. A riot ensues in Tirana at the thought of free cake.

Comm. Parrisson,
As always you found a way to make derogatory remarks toward Albanians. I do not know what is your agenda, but let me reply to you. Yes we have had problems with elections as well as almost other Balkan countries. Having sad that the progress from one election to the other is evident, the power has been rotating through votes lately, and in general the tension is lower. Oh almost forgot, we haven't executed any prime minister yet (hint: Djincic). I do understand though, that the reality might not fit your agenda. Until then, cheers.

The deadly polling station incident was condemned by the EU ambassador in Tirana, Ettore Sequi, who said that "violence is not acceptable and will not be tolerated."

"These elections are a key test of democratic maturity of the country and test the functioning of the Albanian institutions," said Sequi.

I would say: Test successful! Or did someone really expect fair, democratic and free elections instead of election fraud, violence, corruption, voter intimidation in elections organized by Albanians? Not much different to the latest elections in the democratic, multi-ethnic state of Kosovo where Thaci was elected by 115% of the voters in his home clan region.

The international observers conference did just take place , and the verdict for the standart of these elections was : ABOVE AVERAGE , DEMOCRATIC , AND FULFILING EVERY NORM OF DEMOCRACY . This is just a clarification for the persons that will try to connect the voting in albania with hashim thaci and kosova and blah blah .

That incident was an isolated one , and the police has already made arrests . Yet again you will read what i am saying in the articles that will follow .

I had the obligation of informing my 'dear' serbs that still have problems overpassing their complexes towards albanians and thus have the need of propagandizing . Yet again i dont blame you , if i was you i would be feeling the same . Getting so owned , takes time to heal , i know .
