"Illyrians" are a ancient people that lived in the region and we absorbed by various peoples in the region. Albanians (who are first mentioned in the Balkans in the 12th century) did not exist when the Illyrians did nor can you find even one Albanian source from prior to the 19th century that claims an Illyrian connection. Pure fabrication...

Most non balkan historians agree that the origin of Albanians is Illyrians. Albanian is a unique indo european language, accepted by most as a very ancient one. Obviously I don't know if those archeological findings are Illyrian or not. But logically most people leaving together for a long time such as Balkans people, within different Empires, Kingdoms and other state structures have undoubtedly mingled with each other. So it's likely that they are our common ancestors, or at least part of them.

the ghosts have spoken ' we are definitely not of albanian descent, as we were brave soldiers who fought our own battles'

The simple fact that these tombs were not desecrated or destroyed is more than enough evidence to prove that Albanians did not inhabit the region for as long as they claim to have had.

There you are I never knew that Socrates, Aristotle and Archimedes spoke Albanian not classical Greek – well you learn something new every day.
Recently, I picked up a copy on touring Europe, the one that tells a little of everything on the countries there such as food, language, customs, sights and history.
In the section on Kosovo it states that the majority of the monuments, churches, monasteries, historic buildings were built by the Serbs and a few old mosques and buildings were built by the Turks. The guide only mentioned Albanians as the dominant ethnic group there, but no mention of ancient Albanian or Illyrian structures. No mention of “Albanian hero statues in Italy, mecedonia, kosovo, England, Greece, Turkey, Egypt...”
This guide was written by westerners not Serbs.

So the Elgin Marbles are belong to you??
You sure could do with some. . .

You mean the Parthenon marbles,Elgin was the name of the thief and since when did thieves attach their names to the names of stolen goods?

You think Serbs have problems with Albanian students of history? Try to be an Israeli archeologist in Israel, Jerusalem especially. Palestinians choke and gag every time some Jewish archeologist digs up something new. If they find it first, it is likely to be destroyed, dug up or secreted away somewhere.

Muslims have little interest in history, think of the Buddhist statues of Afghanistan. Think of all the mosques built on Hindu temples in India. Islam has a very reliable history of eliminating evidence of native culture wherever it goes.

Experts from the Hague Tribunal should be called. They have amazing powers and can identify not only the nationality of bones but also their religion. They can do this simply by looking at them and taking no DNA.

I believe it's a tomb of the same people that live there today. That's it nothing more. I also do not like this modern BS history, (i really like history) And if u just research a bit more then we can find interesting things.
1 of the things is that people lived mixed between each other. So Celts lived from Ireland all the way to turkey (but in the takla makan dessert in china bones and dna were found that match people of present day Ireland.) These people belong to the white race it does not matter which name they used. People immigrated from the Balkans elsewhere to the world and from many different places people came to the Balkans but the majority is still living here as today (The Slavic people).

I say that Ilyrians/Thrachians/Macedonians/Scythian/Sarmantian/Etruscan/Vedic and many more were all one and the same people known by different names.

But again the Germans are not waiting for big a country from Poland to turkey...
BTW 5000 years ago the world had only 1 country the Vedic empire, it was destroyed back then from within. Funny that history just starts from then and nothing is known from before that period.

The Illyrians have no known ties to Albanians at all. Only the Albanians claim that there is any 'ancestoral' history. Grabbing at anything possible and using the excuse of forgetting to write and track your history is just hilarious. Perhaps you can tell us all how you built Atlantis as well with the help of Aquaman.
(MikeD, 12 June 2013 16:48)

you can be jealous and angry all the way you want, Albanians know their history so does europe...thank god they are not russian and come from siberia ;) just a hint...the country that serbs love so much lol greece is albanian origin. Greece before the ottoman empire and after the empire was albanian and spoke albanian language. Museums from England to Austria you will find only ancient albanian paintings, crowns such as the Skenderbeg one in Viena....you will find Albanian hero statues in Italy, mecedonia, kosovo, England, Greece, Turkey, Egypt and many more.....so the conclusion here is that your just a loser and your history is basically church history which has no use in todays society what so ever.

@ cocky.. to bad that illyrians never went that far east as hey were to affraid of the thracians, who were masters of that region, so most likely its a thracian necropolis. Oh, and you still think you people are true decendents of illyria? well to bad that genetic research has shown otherwise. Have a nice day

Possibly the remains of Illyrians, but probably not, as the region is too far East from where they lived. It will be easy to determine, by the artifacts that were found in the graves, adornments, weapons, and so on. Regardless of who these people were, it is quite a find, and yes, very important for the region, and the world as a whole. It's not really important if Serbs or Albanians are descendants of these people, or maybe neither, is it? We are all humans, and share common ancestors.

Adam and Eve were Illyrians, and Jesus Christ was an Illyrian too (he just lied about being Jewish). They all came from modern day Tirana. In fact, planet earth was originally called Illyria and was to be known as Albania in the future but somehow this conspiracy came along to steal everything from them.

The first thought that popped in my mind when reading this article was that Albanians will somehow claim this is an Illyrian and that it is somehow their kin. Surprise, surprise, the first idiot to comment wrote such a thing. Oh those Illyrians who own planet Illyria and promised everything to Albanians in the future.

Rocky, you seem to think that we Serbs are baboons. What on earth is wrong with you? We're capable of doing things correctly, and yes, of course every idiot out there knows that the remains are not of serbian people but of some older perhaps long gone civilization. seek help for yourself man, seek help.

Peggy

Rocky, I didn't know you are an expert archeologist.
Who do you think these Illyrians are? Albanians? Dream on.

We don't know anything about his site yet and here you are already speculating that it proves Albanian existence in the area way before Serbian. You are comical.

Dusan

These are the remains of the first Serbian settlers to the region that migrated over 2000 years ago. The Albanians came much later, as the servants of the Ottomans from the Albanian lands in the caucuses.

Big Ho'e

Illiterate Illyrians left no written documents of their existence, so how is this different from today and albanians who claim they are their descendants??? Embarrassing no?

adrian

i'd also suggest sending a number of international archeological teams to kosova to find a single reminante of the now gone illyrian subservient civilization. this team would need to be informed that they shouldn't get their hopes up too high, and that they'll be overloaded in serbian and ottoman era relics.
as far as this dig goes, its clear that their likely roman or greek.

Rocky

We can completely rule out that this site has anything in-common with Serbia & the Serbian people, besides being found within the Serbia of today! This site, most probably contains the remains of ancient illiyrians or Macedonian warriors! A international archeological team should be deployed, to carry out a more precise analyses of this site, ASAP! Finds like this, are of to much importance, for the region! To allow inexperienced individuals, the possibility of contaminating this or any ancient site, would be careless & negligent!
