DSS says "independent Kosovo" is EU's "only goal"

The EU's only goal is an independent Kosovo, and the main purpose of Serbia's EU integration is "to serve as a tool for blackmail and pressure on Serbia."

"Smartgirl, what could he do about Kosovo when he wasn't in government to fix it?
He was only in government for four months after declaration of independence, so what did you expect him to achieve? Maybe if he had remained in government he would've done a better job of preventing the damage done after that. "

Dear Peggy,
have you forgotten something? Could you tell me what has DSS leader Kostunica accomplished during his reign? Let me remind you that he was the last President of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, succeeding Slobodan Milošević and serving from 2000 to 2003. He also served two terms as the Prime Minister of Serbia, from 2004 to 2008. He will be remembered as an emotional Kosovo speaker who caused demonstrations and an attack on the U.S. embassy on April of 2008. Not to mention high corruption, failed privatization of 24 state-owned companies, Kolubara affair, and so on.

Your point of view is wrong, as usual. Could you tell us, Mr. DSS Spokesman, what have you done regarding Kosovo,

Don't forget, Serbia had a long way to go after the war, sanctions and bombing. Only Merlin would be able to get the country back on their feet so fast.

Serbia has undertaken substantial modermisation of its legal and social systems because of the aim to join the EU.

That is a big 'something' that helps bring Serbia nearer the standards of nearby countries.

This derives from the EU in large part and is not a 'nothing'.

As a supposed 'neutral', Serbia would in fact remain labelled with its bad past.

Serbia needs to move on, and the EU is the only meaningful path at this stage of history.

"blackmail" is thrown around way too much surrounding this issue.

Is is Serbia that wants to join the EU, not the other way around. If Serbia doesn't like what it takes to join the EU, it's welcome to withdraw its application at any time.

...“which kill Serbia's statehood in Kosovo.”

No, no sir, Serbia's "statehood" was not killed but rather "transformed" into the communities and to the GOK; these are your premier's words and not mine.

Tung,

Kosovo Independence is a goal of the EU despite the nonrecognition of 5 of its minor constituents. Anyone that does not know that by now is having this read to them as they are not capable of doing it on their own.
And that is the reason Serbia has seen an acceleration of their movement to the EU instead of the normal path.
