Even though the German government has recommended Bundestag to grant Serbia a date for the start of the EU talks, German MPs are still skeptical about it.

This is becoming kind of boring. Either give us the date, or leave us alone. Enough with EU blackmails. Geographically Serbia is in Europe and nobody can deny it. And if everything depends on ex Nazi country I don’t think we should regret not being part of EU

Can't really blame the Germans, as they are very familiar with Serbia's dark & barbaric policies! Which true democracy can forget the horrible crimes, that Serbia commited against a mostly unarmed civilian population of formerYugoslavia during 1990s? And to top it off, many of Serbia's political elites that are in power today, were also high ranking officials during the 1990s! Did these politicians change thier skins & mindsets overnight? Its Highly unlikely and a doubtful, and dangerous chance the EU will be taking!!! The EU should not be in a rush, on prematurely expediting Serbia's desire of becoming a EU member state, she the "EU" should first help guide Serbia to making the necessary democratic reforms, both within her borders, and then with the neiboring country's that border her, which off course would mean the "republic of Kosova" as well. Only then, would the EU member county's which Germany is also a member of, be assured the neccessary stablity for Southern- Europe! Only then, would the EU be assured that the union would be on the right track, to providing the entire EU members states, with a long-term success! You know the saying, It would be unwise in building a house of cards!

So, whether Serbia gets a date or not depends on the actions of people the Germans are saying do not live in Serbia. They want Serbia to acknowledge they do not control Kosovo by controlling the people that live there. Serbs are so dumb for falling for this crap. Just abandon any hopes of joining the EU!

Germany,nation of Serb haters.Super race my A**!

It is a matter of trust not hate. All Germany is asking is that Serbia do what they said they will do. Many believe that if Serbia gets what it wants BEGORE they fulfill their commitment, there will be no interest in doing so AFTER.
As far as super race, that was the 30's and 40's, the world knows the most recent claimers of that title is your associates.

Germany will have a lot of explaining to do
(Zoran, 31 May 2013 16:09)

Especially to Greece, which all by itself is blocking Macedonia for a stupid reason. Just to avoid any confusion, the previous sentence was sarcastic.

Germany will have a lot of explaining to do when all EU countries vote in favour of talks date for Serbia and they object. They won't put themselves in such a position, that's why they will give the green light to Serbia at the last moment, unless things go very wrong with the implementation, which I hope doesn't happen!

Why should the German government ask the parliament?? other EU governments decide on enlargement without taking the parliament for its opinion!

ozzi, don't the Albanians want Kosovo, the land, without Serbs? And by their actions in other parts of the Balkans, they want a lot more land to be exclusively Albanian. You appear to be pointing the finger at just one side.

I guess its standards before status for serbia! We all know how great the serbians are at talking the talk (B.S.ing), trust can only be proven via actions and "not" finding a way how to avoid a resposible future where we accually live in peace and harmony, we all know the serbians underlying motive is i want the land (kosovo) but not the albanians and thats what they are working on. In A Nutshell
