There was no toxic milk in Serbia, minister claims

It is clear that nobody in Serbia had toxic or cancerous milk and that it was a political and media affair, Agriculture Minister Goran Knežević has said.

I quote: The weight of available evidence does not support the position that there are any clinically relevant differences between organic and conventionally produced milk, in terms of nutrition or safety.

I have no high opinion regarding Kneževic’s ability to be Minister, but the truth is that the whole problem with aflatoxine was used exclusively for political purposes.

“Even though aflatoxin appeared in all the countries of our climate zone in slightly higher concentrations, only in Serbia a scandal was made out of it with bad consequences for the economy and citizens,” Knežević pointed out. No other country in the region solved its aflatoxin problem the way you did, Mr. Knezevic, by raising the allowed toxin level in the milk. Could that have been the problem, Mr. minister? Kind of like, let's raise the allowed alcohol level in the blood, that way fewer drivers will be driving drunk. This guy is a disgrace, as his superiors.

Regardless, when you go to a supermarket in Belgrade most times organic milk is sold out while the cold cabinet is full of ordinary milk.

This Knezevic is completely untrustworthy, he should just put a sock in it and he's just reminding people not to buy ordinary milk.

Corn infected with aflatoxin was sold to Holland, where there too they had to pull milk, produced by cows that ate this corn, of the supermarket shelves. Further, tests done in Holland on Serbian milk showed increased levels which was 100x above the European norm.
We need an independent inquiry not a political one so that the public can learn the truth about the mismanagement, corruption and deceit of this government which obviously is trying to cover up its failings. Until this happens everyone who consumes milk products, including our children remain at risk.
