Who knows better about the crimes committed and trying to hide them in freezer trucks all over Serbia? some serbs living in diaspora or the deputy minister who was involved in it?
So please serbs, do a huge favor to yourselves, accept the crimes and move on with reality.
Serbs living in diaspora are against any progress made in Serbia-Kosovo because it does not effect them in any way. They live comfortable lives in western countries and yet at the same time they are against those western countries and they praise Russia. If you praise Russia then go and live in Russia. If you serbs are against any agreement to make the lives of Serbs better in Kosovo, then go and live in Kosovo. Stop being heroes in internet while sitting down in your comfortable chairs and couches somewhere in western countries. Deal with reality.
Stop hiding crimes because you are only hiding them from yourselves, otherwise the whole world knows about horror crimes done in Bosnia and Kosovo.
Stop living in the world of mythology, its not healthy for the Serbs as a nation.

the comments on this article once again shed a real bad light on the serb diaspora. It shows their thinking and their deluted perception of reality and their sick way of dealing with Serbias past. Here we have the fact that somebody confessed to committing war crimes, but for them he comes from the wrong country, and they deny it, or start discussions about heros and how great Serbia is.
It is time to start looking inside, reflect, and face painfull facts of the history of all countries involved in the conflicts of the 90's, but it appears as if these people simply are not capable to make that step. They are the a lost generation, and hopefully the future brings people with a better ability to start a much needed healing process.

Thank you Nicholle, Ian and others. It's about time we hear an apology for the horrors from 1999, visited upon the ppl of Kosovo by the state of Serbia. Whether this apology is in earnest, pure opportunism, or a complicated mix of both is impossible to say.

We are waiting to hear apologies from those among the Belgrade elite...
We have nothing to apologize for, why dont u ask the albanians to apologize for their crimes? How about Taci and Haradinaj apologizing?

Amer here is about the Croatian view on the Ustasa regime nowadays.
Since the announcement of the independence in 1992, the Croatian government has consistently pursued ideological rehabilitation of the Ustaše. The Official Zagreb diminishes the scale of their crimes in the media, condones renaming of streets in their honor. In fact, the recent rallies against Cyrillic (incidentally, canceled in Croatia in 1941 by Ante Pavelic) suggest that the genocide against Serbs continues to this day

From your beloved wikipedia.

In 1994, during a state visit to Argentina by President Tudjman, Mr. Sakic spoke to Magazin, a Croatian magazine. “I’d do it all again,” he said, adding that he wished more Serbs had died at Jasenovac. “I sleep like a baby.”

Three years later, a television reporter knocked on Mr. Sakic’s door, and Mr. Sakic gladly consented to an interview. He said the only deaths in the camp had been from natural causes.

True face of a real croat, same could be applied on kalbs.

(Daniel, 14 May 2013 22:38) "

Not so - the Croatian president apologized for Jasenovac just days ago.

The murderers of Jasenovac started to be dealt with immediately after the end of the war - some were summarily executed, some were tracked down abroad (e.g., Spain) and executed (1969), the camp commander Dinko Šakić was hunted down by Nazi hunters in Argentina and returned to Zagreb in 1998 where he was given the maximum sentence under the law at that time - 20 years in prison - and died in prison. Some, like some Germans, managed to disappear and may still be alive somewhere. (This is from Wikipedia, but I've read similar reports over the years.) These people were not simply allowed to go free, every attempt was made to find and charge them. Or execute them, as the case may be.

I could not tell if you were trying to prove Ian's point or what.
The first article shows a guy that received 5 life sentences for his crimes in Iraq, and you use this to show no punishment? By the way whether the girl in the picture was the victim or not, the picture is NOT of a 14 year old girl.
The 2nd 2 links were from very slanted resources whose reliability would be suspect at best.

From end May 1992, armed forces made up of Bosnian Muslims and Bosnian Croats attacked and seized control of certain villages in the municipality of Konjic and its surroundings which were populated in the majority by Bosnian Serbs. The attackers expelled the Serb residents by force from their houses and held them in detention centres. The majority of the men and some of the women were marched off to camps previously held by the JNA in Celibici. Here, these prisoners were murdered, tortured, subjected to sexual violence, beaten up and, in general terms, subjected to cruel and inhumane treatment. The majority of the detainees were imprisoned at Celibici from around May 1992 until about October 1992, although some of them were held until December 1992.

Esad Landzo took advantage of his position as camp guard to mete out ill treatment to the detainees. He also abused his position by committing murder and by practicing torture and cruel treatment.

I just wonder when albanians, croat and muslims will apologize for what they did to serb civilians. Croats never to this day apologized for Jasenovac neither did they convict not a single one of the murderers at Jasenovac nor the leaders of the Ustasa regime. Ante Pavelic and Maks Luburic for example died as free men.

Here is some more info for you Ian and tell me dont u think that 20/15 yrs prison is a slap in the face for the victims just because they were serbs?

During the war, Mr. Delic was a deputy commander of a prison camp in Celebici, in southern Bosnia. Mr. Landzo was a guard. Former Bosnian Serb prisoners have accused them of multiple murders and rape at the camp in 1992.

Both men were indicted on March 22 along with two others, a Muslim and a Croat, for their purported roles at Celebici. The other suspects, Zejnil Delalic and Zdravko Mucic, are already in custody of the tribunal. Both have pleaded innocent.

The 49-count indictment covering the four suspects details a campaign of torture and murder at the camp: men burned with heated knives; prisoners' tongues and ears seared with hot pliers; women repeatedly raped.

In one incident, Mr. Delic and Mr. Landzo are said to have beaten an elderly man and nailed a badge to his head before he died. The two are also accused of beating another inmate to death with a baseball bat and with pieces of steel cable, and then torturing him with pliers. The victim died after days of abuse.

One woman, referred to in the indictment only as Witness A, said she "suffered repeated incidents of forcible sexual intercourse."

Daniel

pre 10 godina

Ian here is the sentence of Hasim Delic that u mentioned. Read and please tell me if you think 20 yrs is enough for these crimes?

Explaining its sentence, the Trial Chamber states the following: the accused "displayed a singular brutality in causing the deaths of two men detained in the Celebici prison-camp and a calculated cruelty in the torture and mistreatment of many others. He raped two defenceless women on several occasions, seeking to exert his power over them and instil absolute fear in them. The Trial Chamber considers the rape of any person to be a despicable act which strikes at the very core of human dignity and physical integrity. Throughout Mr. Delic’s tenure as deputy commander in the Celebici prison-camp he was instrumental in creating an atmosphere of terror by his actions and his threats to and humiliation of the detainees. It appears that he took a sadistic pleasure in causing the detainees pain and suffering, most clearly illustrated by his frequent use of a device to inflict electrical shocks

Ian fair sentence huh?If he was serb he wouldve got life without a question.

at no point did the ICTY say that crimes against Serbs during Operation Storm didn't happen.

So why didnt they convict any croat of these crimes? They LET croat courts do their job for them when it came to those who were suspects of war crimes and guess what as soon as they were sent to Croatia they were aquitted. How come they didnt send a single suspect to Serbia and let Serbian courts make the decision on whether someone is guilty or not?

"The Hague is an evil court because it does not recognize Serbian victims in the Yugoslav wars" - Ari Gold

What a ridiculous, outrageous & troll like comment!

I don't recognise your comments as serious.

Of course the ICTY recognises Serbs as victims during the Yugoslav Wars.

Esad Landžo & Hazim Delić were sentenced to 15 & 18 years imprisonment by the ICTY for murder & rape of Serb civilians at Čelebići prison camp.

Rasim Delić was sentenced by the ICTY for failure to prevent or punish the cruel treatment of Serb soldiers.

Mehmed Alagić was on trial for crimes against Serbs when he died.

Mladen Markač & Ante Gotovina were initially found guilty of crimes against Serbs, however their appeals were successfully as there wasn't enough evidence to suggest that they were directly responsible for the crimes, at no point did the ICTY say that crimes against Serbs during Operation Storm didn't happen.

"But when organ extractors and known terrorists are free today never to be indicted".

Like who? Which 'organ extractors'? Who are known terrorists? There has to be enough evidence to form a case before someone can be indicted. Everyone the ICTY has evidence for war crimes for has been indicted. They haven't missed anyone out. If you think you have evidence to suggest otherwise, please let someone know instead of keeping it secret. Just because you think someone is a terrorist, doesn't make them a terrorist. You think a lot of strange things!

"NATO's initial claim that 100,000 civilians had been killed is BS, however your conspiracy theory is also BS! "

I remember when I heard this the first time because it was made by one of my state's Senators (John Kerry). He said that based on aerial imagery and experience with mass graves at Srebrenica, there could be 100,000 deaths. It was just an estimate, and considering the number of times some of the bodies were buried and reburied, maybe not so wild.

John

pre 10 godina

I remember when I read the first time about the cooling truck war crime and thought that even for Serbs it was way to gross to be true. But when evidence appeared (pictures, names,...) I was so shocked. During the Milosevic trial, Slobo denounced this as a hoax. When the prosecutor questioned Obradovic, Obradovic became very, very silent, trying to talk this out, with excluding that it might happened. Now we know it is a proven fact.

You could see in the court room how chilly it has become when this issue arose, since whole families were among the dead. The Serbian policeman who opened the truck first documented that he found only civilians there and checked for wallets and IDs, trying to find out the identity of the victims. One girl, around 7 years old, just had some creons and drawn pictures on an UNICEF notebook. This is so hard breaking that people can murder an innocent child and even try to hide this crime. I hope the perpetrators will have nightmares until the end of their miserable life before going to hell. At least those, who have that blood on their hands and still hide somewhere in Serbia or elsewhere.

Nevertheless, I would like acknowledge Vlastamir Dordevic's honesty to admit his part of this crime. He will face justice now and in the afterlife. At least, he faces it with the most possible dignity, something what most of his brothers in arms did not show. There is only God now who can judge him.

The Hague is an evil court because it does not recognize Serbian victims in the Yugoslav wars. If a Serb commits a crime he also commits one against his own nation so everyone should be prosecuted. But when organ extractors and known terrorists are free today never to even be indicted or wrongfully acquitted, then yes it is evil.

But of course, you just pay attention to whatever fits your extremist and Serbophobic discourse.

The main flaw in the conspiracy which you have presented us with is that those involved with crimes which your conspiracy theory denies happened, have admitted to the crimes. Why would they admit to something which didn't happen? Unless you're suggesting that they're in on the conspiracy theory too? Why do the involved people not believe in your conspiracy theory if what you're claiming is true? Surely it'd be in their in their interests to reveal the truth, instead of going to prison for the sake of NATO's lies? Another flaw in your conspiracy theory is that mass graves of Albanians have been found in Serbia and at the river bed of the Danube river. NATO's initial claim that 100,000 civilians had been killed is BS, however your conspiracy theory is also BS! That anti-Albanian scum bag Del Ponte is full of BS too, her 2,100 figure back in 1999 was premature, early and rushed. Many more have been found since then and outside of Kosovo too. UNMIK/ EULEX still has thousands of bodies in body bags in basements under Prishtina which they're yet to identify.

John

Since the announcement of the independence in 1992, the Croatian government has consistently pursued ideological rehabilitation of the Ustaše. One would rather accept the figures by someone representing the UN than the claims by the likes of W.Cohen(US def Sec),J Straw or G Hoon-250000 Albanians dead-this is what one calls propaganda.Let me also remind you the UN and FBI teams searching for graves left empty-handed.

It's the same Carla del Ponte which accused the Albanians for organ harvesting and the Syrian Al Qaeda for using chemical weapons against civilians.

Had the Hague kangaroo court not been a Nato Court then the likes of Blair, his cabinet and the mass of the British army would've been languishing in prisons for many years for attacking a sovereign nation without a UN resolution, not to mention the physical and sexual torture committed against Iraqi civilians.
(Leonidas, 14 May 2013 13:33)

No, mass graves have been found. Several of them. And there are probably several which haven't been discovered yet.

All you need to do is google the following words "Kosovo Albanian mass grave found in Serbia" and it comes up with 1,180,000 results. Serbia and the UN have acknowledged the mass graves. So why do you?

Yes, it is that Carla del Ponte. The Carla del Ponte which has proven to be a liability. The Carla del Ponte who is very good at accusing people of things, but unable back up her allegations. That Carla del Ponte!

I too would like to see Blair behind bars for War Crimes. British soldiers have been punished for their crimes, all in line with the Geneva Conventions.

Like who? Which 'organ extractors'? Who are known terrorists? There has to be enough evidence to form a case before someone can be indicted. Everyone the ICTY has evidence for war crimes for has been indicted.

Come on Ian, the KLA was labelled as a terrorist group even by the CIA and guess who was their commander?Thats right, mr Snake himself. And about Gotovina and Markaca dont u think its funny that a court sentences them to 24/18 years and then all of a sudden the same court aquits them? What do you make of a court like that?Last but not least 15 18 yrs for rape and murder, dont u think thats a little bit short?Only for murder it should be more than 20 yrs let alone for rape and murder. But I guess thats only when it comes to serbs.

How come they didnt send a single suspect to Serbia and let Serbian courts make the decision on whether someone is guilty or not?

"NATO's initial claim that 100,000 civilians had been killed is BS, however your conspiracy theory is also BS! "

I remember when I heard this the first time because it was made by one of my state's Senators (John Kerry). He said that based on aerial imagery and experience with mass graves at Srebrenica, there could be 100,000 deaths. It was just an estimate, and considering the number of times some of the bodies were buried and reburied, maybe not so wild.

Daniel

Willi Pfaff

pre 10 godina

the comments on this article once again shed a real bad light on the serb diaspora.
