What an interesting year its turning out to be. Amongst this Kosovo business we had a news on RTS item that went unnoticed. Suzana Grubješić, the Minister for EU Integration, went to a local high school in Belgrade with the idea of promoting the EU etc. However, out of the “mouth of babes” she was caught out beautifully.

The students were invited ask questions. The first asked the Minister why does Serbia need to join the EU? The response was the same rubbish as on the EU websites. The next asked what financial benefit was there to Serbia to join the EU? You could have pushed me over with a feather; she said that no one should expect any money from Brussels because there is no money left and that only hard work would raise standards in Serbia. Then came the final blow; the last student asked “if that is the case then what is the point of joining because we have seen what has happened to Slovenia and they have certainly not prospered?

She could not answer the question. I’m sure the head of the school has received a dressing down over this episode for putting bright students in this group.

To the Albanians who think the EU is on their side, you guys are so far down the rung of the ladder that you have to get on someone’s shoulders to see the gutter. As far as Brussels is concerned you don’t even exist as you’re only a sponge that soaks up valuable cash and produce nothing except mouths to feed.
