The restoration of the Serbian monarchy would most certainly be the best direction to take, both for Serbia as well as her neighbouring states. I am Bulgarian and Macedonian on my mother's side, and have long been in favour of a monarchical restoration in Bulgaria, especially considering the fact that Bulgaria still has a legitimately crowned Tzar, who having never abdicated, is legally Bulgaria's Reigning Monarch - sadly, the criminals who comprise the vast majority of the Bulgarian government are against anything which is not in the best interests of their respective pocketbooks. Having studied Central and Eastern European Political History & Political Philosophy at quite high levels, I feel confident in the worthiness of my opinion, which is that the best way forward for nearly all of the Balkan Countries would be t restore their respective monarchies...but it is unfortunately all too terribly true that the individuals in power are rarely interested in what is best for their countries beyond simply saying that they are.

What Serbia needs is better politicians. Monarchy can be beneficial in terms of being in the same club as other European countries with monarchy. There is some prestige to that and it says that it's a democratic country but monarchy is purely ceremonial. They have no real power and are a drain on the budget.
If Serbia can afford it then they can consider the benefits of creating an illusion of prestige but Serbia should first get quality politicians before they consider anything else.
What they have in the stable now is not up to scratch.

I am in absolute agreement with you.Let the people decide who rules over them. (Leonidas, 10. maj 2013 19:12) Bloody Hell... we've agreed on something. Let the people decide who govern them on their behalf!

So don't be under the illusion that a monarchy would be beneficial to tourism in Serbia.

Don't let a Monarchy devalue your democracy!

I'm saying this as a British Republican, I want rid of our monarchy.

If Serbia were to reinstate it's monarchy, it should be done for purely aesthetic reasons. The Monarchy must under no circumstances have any political or constitutional powers and should only be involved in ceremonies and other traditional events.

One of the arguments people in the UK use in favour of our monarchy is that it is good for tourism. That is a lie. I like millions of other people have been to St Petersburg and I have visited some of their lovely palaces at Petergof/ Peterhof, the Peter and Paul Fortress and the Winter Palace ect. St Petersburg thrives of tourists visiting their historic royal buildings, yet Russia doesn't have a monarchy to encourage tourism. It isn't needed. The same applies to Versailles and all the other royal buildings in France.

So don't be under the illusion that a monarchy would be beneficial to tourism in Serbia.

Don't let a Monarchy devalue your democracy!

Simple question: aside from bringing us corpses from abroad, what have they done in 10 years?
There is an old saying , if one is to rule they need to first serve.
