Danilo,

In case you didn't practice irony, please, read again the debate between Captain and me. I think you lost the track somewhere.

Neither Captain nor me suggests that "men chasing around a ball is a [...] standard by which to to judge a country's progress".

sj,
You have finally reached the level of all the other pro Serb posters. Poor, poor Serbia, no one understands the plight that Serbs have suffered, it is not their fault. Of course the rest of the world is expected to overcome their obstacles but not the forever victim Serbs!

""Don't forget that America has achieved more in 240 yrs of its existence than Serbia has in 1400 years." Ah, that claim is as foolish if I'd say that Serbia beating the USA in Davis Cup recently proves how Serbs are tougher athletes than Americans. "

That's a pretty ridiculous comment, Oli.

A bunch of men chasing around a ball is hardly any standard by which to to judge a country's progress.

Like most modern Americans your knowledge of history is abysmal. Migration of Serbs in ever increasing numbers only occurred after WW1 and especially after WW2. Most Serb migrants prior to WW1 were from Dalmatia or Lika regions because of the levels of poverty there.

The US has not been trampled upon by Muslim hordes nor occupied for 600 years nor had land stolen from them so if the US was further down the track than Serbia is there any wonder? However, what has Albania achieved or more to the point what has the Albanian people contributed in their time since immemorial on the Balkan Peninsula apart from hang onto someone’s coat tails such as the Turks and now the US?

Captain America,

Yep, I missed the fact you mentioned. And I missed it because it had nothing to do with your comment, you just picked it out of your back pocket now.

As far I know Zoran doesn't belong to Serbian diaspora in the USA, but please, correct me if I'm wrong. And we both know that things in Serbia aren't well (as they neither are in the USA) but shall we use the same word as you used in connection with the USA: Serbia faces challenges.

"Don't forget that America has achieved more in 240 yrs of its existence than Serbia has in 1400 years." Ah, that claim is as foolish if I'd say that Serbia beating the USA in Davis Cup recently proves how Serbs are tougher athletes than Americans.

But the sugar on the bottom: tell me how Americans make true of the Gandhi quotation "You must be the change you wish to see in the world"? What is the change Americans bring about?

Northern Kosovo Serbs are against agreement, they said in their referendum that they didn't want to have anything to do with Prishtina. The majority of PEOPLE said it, not "northern thugs".

Some Albanians say they prefer their thugs and criminals to Belgrade rule, probably Kosovo Serbs also prefer their "thugs" (as lesser evil) to Prishtina rule.

Olli - You've maybe missed the fact that the largest diaspora of Serbs is in the USA. If everything is so great in Serbia then why are they here? Why do they continue to leave Serbia? Also, America is a wonderful place despite its challenges. Don't forget that America has achieved more in 240 yrs of its existence than Serbia has in 1400 years.

Look, all you need to do is guarantee the northern leaders that their salaries will continue unaffected and they'll sign whatever they're given. The north has been privileged for so long that they're used to being pampered and coddled over, while the south has been mercilessly neglected up to now. There's not a doubt in my mind the agreement between Belgrade and Pristina all but secured executive autonomy for the north (you can say whatever you want to say about what was not in the agreement, but things have a way of reflecting reality real fast in Kosovo), and this is not the problem. For all the north proclaims about being loyal to Serbia, they really want to retain their own power base and be deal makers or breakers in any arrangement that takes place around them. This involves money: money they've been getting without question since 1999, and money the south is only now hoping to get (which I wouldn't be surprised the north fears - Gracanica is far more favored as the "token" Serbian community by international organizations, and Trajkovic is far more intelligent than Pantic et al.

One day the federation of serb&albanian gay people will march over the Ibar bridge in Mitrovica claiming equal rights for straight, gay and transgender people in Saudi Arabia. Lots of people surrounding the huge crowd will acclaim. Orthodox priest will sanctify the parade, while in the mosque of the city seven couples of priests and mufties are to exchange wedding vows...

kiko

I don't understand why they are so worried. Kosovo/a allows dual citizenship. Every Serb will have a Serbian passport as well as one from Kosovo/a. If the funds are created properly, and are transparent, then no one should be afraid. Health and education funds will be provided by Serbia directly. The only task K.Serbs have is to make sure that those funds arrive to them and don't fall through the cracks to some dubious person. Serbia can contribute as much as it wants to the K.Serbs and Prishtina can't tell them you can't send more money.

The advantages of this deal actually help the Serbs more so than Belgrade can help them. It gives them a stronger voice than before. It allows them to make sure accountability is followed by the central Prishtina govt. The only worries I see are from those who currently hold office. They might not get re-elected and I believe that is their fear.

Well here is to lasting peace! God Bless all the people in Kosovo/a!

It is normal that Serbs from the North of Kosovo have their doubts regarding what was agreed in Brussels, but I think that at the end of the day they will accept.

Vučić, these people see the progress you offer as a form of defeat.
If you want to push the right buttons you have to get into their psyche. You can't just promise them a better life.
Serbs of the north need to feel secure that Serbia will not abandon them once Kosovo has been truly established. If you can convince them of that then you will have succeeded. This isn't an easy task. It will take a lot of convincing.
