I'm sure you can come up with better diggs than that. btw, what I wrote is completely true. there are really only 3 states in Europe that don't recognize Kosova, Russia , Belarussia & Ukraine. Spain, Greece, Romania, Slokavia (not sure about Cyprus) all explicitly accept Kosova's statehood. There are ZERO resctictions for me, a Kosvar Passport holder to visit Spain (should I get a visa). that's waht excplicit recognition means.

Oh and Daniel, whatever mirror I get, I still see a truly handsome man staring back :-)

"Maybe, its time to start withholding some EU funds, that are destined for Spain & the few countries which think they can dictate & manipulate EU policy to the majority EU members that have recognized Kosova as a country! This small minority within the EU, has only been a burden to the rest of the EU members! It is time, for the more powerful members within the EU to re-think their strategies of policy making!"

Well, unlike some other organizations, EU is a democratic one, and important decisions have to be done with all members agreeing. So it's not Spain and others who are 'dictating' anything. It's simple: The EU doesn't have a common stand on Kosovo, like the wold and UN doesn't, and so Kosovo is in a limbo state and will stay there until a mutually agreed solution is found.

It's a very reasonable opinion of spain not to accept any unilateral moves. And about the 'burdon': More like: Kosovo is a burden for whole Europe, being a safe haven for all kind of criminals and organized crimes, especially drug distribution, and being lead by at least dubious figures, it doesn't bring any good and improvement to Europe and the world.

"Explicitly, Spain already recognises Kosova. It considers its passports valid, it's identity documentations valid and it did not vote against Kosova's admittance to the EBRD. Within 5 years it will have made an implicit recognition. Same with Greece."
(Nikolle, 26 April 2013 10:08)

Some improvement: Kosovo Albanians don't spend money on buying 'explicit' recognitions any more, now they are happy with 'implicit recognitions'.

Hey I have a great idea: What about a new criteria: Everyone who shook hands with Thaci 'implicitly recognized' Kosovo? :)

Boy, you guys are so full of it. When you look in the mirror, do you see a prince instead of a frog too? I can't wait until the reality of your nothingness sinks in. You live in the lowest position in Europe. Serbia might as well be on the top of Mount Everest to you, compared to your position. Yet, because you have the support of SOME OLD AMERICANS, you think you can rule the world. Wait until the old guard is out and Kosovo becomes another "What?" term in the US. 99% of Americans don't even know what Albania are Serbia is. Heck on my Birth certificate it says my mother was from Yugoslavia, South America. Americans don't care about you or Serbia. All they care about is why our economy is going down hill so fast. So, reality will hit your sorry pathetic life really soon, and people in Spain, which will not recognize you unless Serbia does, well they are living quite well.

Spain should not recognize Kosov , just like Serbia did not recognize Kosov.

But they should normalize relations and exchange ambassadors like Serbia did with Kosov.

Claudio

Spain will not recognize an independent Kosovo because of ill will but because recognizing Kosovo would mean recognizing a criminal state. No other place in europe has so many problems and criminals like Kosovo. I think my country would rather recognize North Korea. Kosovo is not recognized because it is what it is.

Promising that a country will never do something, as this politician is doing, is silly though - all it takes is the opposition winning an election and the "country's" position flips to the opposite state.

(Amer, 25 April 2013 19:55)

It goes both ways. For a country that recognized faked Kosova - all it takes is the opposition winning an election and the country withdraws its recognition.

No, The Five have agreed not to block Kosovo's progress. If, as they seem to expect there will be, there is eventually a vote on Serbia's admission, having an undeveloped "Southern Province" would ruin their statistics and hold up admission. The Five seem to hope that Kosovo will progress toward European standards along with Serbia and then at the last moment agree to join the EU as part of Serbia.

Kosovo has been supported by both Democratic and Republican administrations - I hope they realize the significance of this.

(John, 25 April 2013 17:28)

LOL I think governments in Southeastern Europe do enough to obstruct development. Besides, the only one you're referring to is the one in Pristina. They have support from some of the most powerful states in the world and they're still able to royally screw up the quality of life for their citizens, so I doubt Spain's refusal to recognize you is going to make that much if a difference :)

@Rocky: Unlikely to happen. Particularly now when Serbia is cooperative. The wording of agreement to me already signals shift in EU policy. There are many signs to suggest that Serbia is slowly, but surly, getting upper hand. You will be forced to choose between living limited life in an isolated state or be formally part of Serbia (in some way) and living a normal life. Don't get me wrong, Serbia has no intentions to control Kosovo Albanians, but seeks a formal presence.

Maybe, its time to start withholding some EU funds, that are destined for Spain & the few countries which think they can dictate & manipulate EU policy to the majority EU members that have recognized Kosova as a country! This small minority within the EU, has only been a burden to the rest of the EU members! It is time, for the more powerful members within the EU to re-think their strategies of policy making!

Yes, I'm sure someone in the EU really cares about what an insignificant person in an insignificant piece of land like Kosovo says. They will change their whole EU policy to accommodate Rocky's view. Wow! Of course, according to you, Spain is a worthless nation. I'm sure you wish you would live in Spain rather than Albania or Kosovo any day.

Kosovo independence would be a dangerous precedent and will have deleterious consequences on many countries, Spain included. This is the reason why Kosovo will stay in a limbo for a while and until does not sit with Serbia to really negotiate long-lasting solution. This will happen when people in Kosovo get tired from being unable to live like everyone else in Europe.
