Ari Gold,
You have such a selective and inaccurate memory so prevalent in many Serbs.
Eulex was set to begin UNMIK had started their draw down and Serbia was saying no, no way would Eulex ever take over in Kosovo. The Eulex staff had been hired with start dates, the equipment had been ordered and still Serbia was saying no thinking Russia would block it in the UNSC. Finally when there was no way to stop it and in order to save face, the Serbian leadership did a 180 degree turn and suddenly welcomed Eulex as they were already coming in the door.
No where in 1244 is there any provision that anything in Kosovo Has to be approved by Serbia, quite the opposite.
I was there.

* Face palm * There is no such word as "irregardless".

This bg clown has completely missed the point that by the signing of the Agreement, Belgrade officially recognizes Kosovo, it's laws, Constitution, etc....no mention of r1244, your "platform", red-lines, or any other rhetoric. Granted r1244 recognized Kosovo as a separate "custom zone" this Agreement sealed the deal and thus put Kosovo and Serbia into different paths towards EU membership; less I remind you that EU membership is more important than any random organization such as un.

We all know that Serbia is expected to formally recognize Kosovo before entering EU; of course that's a good 7-9 years away, things change!

Besides that Kosovo will be a member of the UN in the not too distant future, irregardless of what Serbia says.
(Willi Pfaff, 25 April 2013 10:51)

Serbia doesn't say much at all as far as the Serb gov't is concerned. It was Serbia's leadership that had to (and did) sign off on EULEX presence, in fact it was that same govt that supported taking the talks from the UN to Brussels in the first place. My "German" friend, Serbia hasn't even been trying at all. It hasn't even been trying diplomatically in places where it legally can. Believe me when Serbia starts trying, you will know.

And I know you are not German. I've seen "Willi" on other Balkan websites try to convince people he's German their too.

The German President Gauck just gave a speach at the Council of Europe just 3 days ago, and openly called for Kosovo to finally be a member. Serbia has no right, nor does it have the power to stop that. Besides that, the first steps for Kosovo to become a member where already started Monday night when Kosovo was granted observer status to the Council of Europe

The same thing applies when it comes to OECD membership. Nowhere does it state that a membership country has to be UN member. Besides that Kosovo will be a member of the UN in the not too distant future, irregardless of what Serbia says.

The Belgrade clows should stop fighting yesterdays battles, and look to a better future for all Balkan states, but that is one of the many lessons serb politicians still have to learn.

How will they get into the UN? Dream on. This isn't all about Kosovo and Albanians. There are old battles between the US and Russia and China that are way older than this. Russia and China enjoy their veto power, especially when it comes to negating some US position. You need to look beyond your little part of the world and see the big picture.

Because of self-serving stubbornness from Belgrade, the Albanians and Serbs in Kosovo will continue to have tense relations. If BG is ready to give up entire Kosovo to Albanian law, then it should go all the way. To me, this sounds like being a little bit pregnant, either you are or you are not. You either accept Kosovo as being independent, or you don't. Yu cannot accept some independence, and allow the people that actually live there to continue being in turmoil.

Mr. Serbian FM,
The snowflake has melted already. In case you are not aware, several days ago, the European Parliament has voted in a big majority to remove the footnote.

same old serbian games, and another ill-fated atempt to demonstrate Serbia's power in Europe. Whatever he says about the Council of Europe is simply wrong. Nowhere in it's statute says it that a member has to be a memeber of the UN.
