If nothing else, this government is the first one, in a very long row, to stand up ad have guts to deal with Kosovo (one way or another). I can imagine how easy and tremendously "courageous" it is to perform political analyses and consulting, in the background. Referendum or not, this was the only right thing to do and we are all going to become aware of that, sooner or later.

This whole agreement is because 63% of serbs recognize kosova independence!

So why bother holding a referendum! That poll and them being in power shows Serbia strongly supports kosova independence.

the risk of a referendum is that the people will say: ' NO '....

There is no risk, I am sure. Everyone in Serbia knows what "NO" means. This is far from good agreement but the only choice in this moment. Referendum should be hold just to show our togetherness and to shut opposition's mouth up.

“the EU power elite have ways of getting their own way even if they lose a referendum”.
This is all true. That’s EU democracy. Referendum in Serbia will only heat an already heated situation, so I think this is wise decision.

Please do the referendum. It is clear that Serbia does not belong in the EU, but is better that you serbs make it official. Eu should not waste any money on serbs.

If the people of Serbia are truly behind this government and the agreement as this government claims, what better way to prove it than to hold a referendum .After all is not democracy about the PEOPLE.This way we will know what the people of Serbia want and not OUTSIDERS

George,

As BORAT said: letting Serbs hold referendum is like letting monkey fly airplane.

Ari and many other patriots,

I understand and empathise with practically all that you ever comment and the thing is now is the time to act rationally and not be drawn into the emotive. The agreement never will lead to the recognition of a UN "state of Kosova" and Kosovo & Metohija remain with the UN recognised boundaries of Serbia - irrespective of the west's deceitful illegal recognitions which they delude themselves is a political decision.

Serbia has time on its side and my heart says no yet my head says go with it make this work to all Serbian citizens advantage - this goes for all municipalities in Kosovo not just the 4 northern ones and across the whole of Serbia.

" Kosovah" will never be a state and this government stake their existence upon this very point lets be clever and use this to our advantage. Much more detail must be discussed (energy, telecommunication but 2) and this is but the beginning of more talks in finding a full and all encompassing solution.

Nikolić "nothing is agreed till everything is agreed" - let us all hold him to it and remind the West that this is Serbia's stance and there will be no full implementation till a full all encompassing agreement not just a part (15 point) document - much more concerns Serbia then just how Serbs in the north of KiM maybe represented.

Not to get a EU date means to get no money for the development of Serbia ( they need this money because the state is short before bankrupt ). Simple mathematic. All about OPM ( OPM = other people´s money. in this case EU money from the citizens of the EU ).
(viewer, 22 April 2013 14:59)

What money? Where do people get this myth that money will come to Serbia the closer it gets to the EU? All of south Europe is practically broke, where exactly will this money for "development" come from? The best Serbs have to hope for is the generosity of Germans??

This is about Serbia's political class setting up a future job for them in the European Parliament or on some bureaucratic money wasting "commission". People already in the EU are looking to get the hell out and the Serbian gov't is look to jump on the titanic before it sinks.

Hi Ari, how about those who vote to keep the illusion alive should pay the bill from their own pockets?

How far on the red would you personally go just to keep your myth up?

And would you force the others who did not vote in your favour with bullies and police to steal from them?

Michael Thomas

The EU has a bad reputation with referenda. They oppose them because they give ordinary people a say in major events. However, the EU power elite have ways of getting their own way even if they lose a referendum - They immediately call for another referendum. They will never accept a "No" result and will instead just call for referendum after referendum until they get the "right" result.

Calling a referendum on such an important issue is the most democratic way to handle this. Then we can see how many Danilos actually live in Serbia. How many self-capitulators are actually around.

If there are more Danilos in Serbia than the rest then I will admit communism physiologically raped a huge portion of our people and will shut up forever.
