You don't need to be twin brothers to be coherent in political relationship. One may say Turkey (As the inheritor of Ottoman Empire) used to be enemies with Serbia and this got denser during last tragic events in Bosna which may have ended up in hatred for some Turkish people against Serbian people, vice versa may be available too. But I think these two countries can go on well with many areas since they are similar in culture, cuisine, attitudes etc.
As a Turkish having roots from today's Serbia, I strongly appreciate coherence between Turkey and Serbia.

well Bacco, the Balkans can't hold a grudge against Turkey forever. France & Germany (or Prussia) were enemies for centuries, they're allies now and it has been good for them. Its not the Turks fault that the Balkans were weak when the Ottomans got here is it?

Serbia has Turkey's strong support for EU accession, Stefanović told reporters at the National Assembly House.

I didn't think anyone would ask Turkey. Are they in the EU now.
In that case Turkey has Serbia's strong support too.

9 million Serbs in Turkey? really? where on earth did that come from?

as for this, Turkey is definitely a very powerful state and according to some projections, could well overtake the German economy within 50 years. having good relations with it is obviously important.

gajo, not even close!
there are maybe 80,000 or fewer Serbs in Turkey.
if there were 9 million, then all of the ethnic groups that classify as "other" would be Serbs, and that is far from the truth, there are plenty of ethnic groups
there are more Greeks, albanians, Bosniaks, Armenians, and even Pomaks living in Turkey than Serbs.

Serbia and Turkey are "two friendly countries linked by common culture, history, geography," and our duty is to develop relations even further, Cicek said.

Common culture, history, geography? Well, common history I might understand, but the other? Common culture? Very doubtful! Common geography? Pure nonsense, or is this Turkish guy maybe dreaming of the return of Osman empire?

gajo

it should be and the 9 million Serbs in turkey should push for more rights and churches to be built and should get pushed by the UN and world pressure....
