So my dear Serbs to simplify things for you all, if you are born in Croatia your are then Croatian.

P.S Croatian and Serbs were never brothers and never will be
(Danijel Ivkovic, 11 April 2013 08:44)

Yes they have Croatian passports but they identify themselves with the Serbian culture and religion. In the old days it wasn't so strictly Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia etc but was the Serb Kingdom anyway so technically your family were born in Serbia at a point in time, does that make you Serbian?

I can't wait until license plates and signs have to have Cirilica haha it will make my day!!!

Naucices brate ;)

Always have been slaves of other nations now with zero national identity they define themselves through hating others.

Blerim obviously you don't understand Croatian culture and politics. If you did you would know that Croats are far from confident in their own identity. It only takes an issue to blow up for the whole debate of whether 'we are Balkan or European' to be debated again and again. This ugly topic keeps rearing its head and in the past results in more chest beating, more flags (no Balkan country has flown more flags than Croatia in the past decade), more additions to the Croatian language and more outlandish theories about the origins of Croats - usually peddled by right wing types, but listened to by many.

Away from the ridiculous political points, put an educated Serb, Croat or Bosnian in an 'international situation' they will gravitate towards one another. I've seen it with my own eyes.

On topic its obvious there was 'intolerance' at this protest, but many years have passed since the bad old days. I believe that a fair number of Croats felt ashamed of this protest attended by the great unwashed types.

That is not the behaviour of a people confident in their identity

What about the uncertainty the Croatians had to go through, when Serb's systematically raped, murder, mutilated Croatians of all ages, burnt and destroyed Croatian churches, Croatian graves and historical sites.

What about Jasenovac, what about Medacki dzep, what about Oluja? You come to a serb site and talk s***, apologize for all the murders u committed during ww2 and then on.

for the record real croats are austrian and mostly likely are related to slovenians whilst other croats are serbs converted through various campaigns such in WW2 to confer the serb population to catholicism.

In my mind i don't care for croats at all
(mia, 11 April 2013 04:15) For the record we are not, Croatians are the Haplogroup 1 http://hartleyfamily.org.uk/haplogroupI.jpg the original. With the highest percentage followed by the Scandinavians our descendents. Who weathered the last ice age in Croatia/Bosnia after the ice sheets melted some moved north. But I know you Serbs wish you could be Croatians who can blame you.

A serb born in croatia is a serb with a croat and a serb citizenship and will never be a croat. If serbs born in croatia are croats how come there is a serb minority in croatia then? And no we will NEVER EVER be brothers

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that genetic studies show that 'croat' dna matches for 99.9 % with serb dna. And we all know who were there since the year 600 and who were most certainly not, so you do the math...

Also, if a Serb is born in Croatia, that automatically makes them a Croatian citizen. And as a citizen of Croatia, they are educated in the Croatian language, they pay homage to Croatia andif they work in Croatia they pay taxes to Croatia.

Blerim why did you assume that daniel comment came form a serb and not a croat. Is it because croats have always harboured a hatred of the serbs which has resulted in 3 attempts to wipe them out.

Blerim - This is one Serb who doesn't consider Croats as brothers. And since you brought up ethnic cleansing, you seemed to forget the stated policy of the WWII Croat gov't: kill 1/3 of Serbs, convert 1/3 to Catholicism and exile 1/3. The refusal of the current gov't., the catholic church and Croats in general to admit and apologize for these crimes will keep relations between Serbs & Croats strained at best.

And you made mention of a proud tradition. Were you referring to the Croats as being the first to establish concentration camps for children? Or perhaps you were referring to the Croats siding with the axis powers against the US in both world wars. Or going back even further, you must have been referring to that long and proud Croat tradition of serving your occupying masters. First it was serving as stable boys of the Austro Hungarian Empire, then as German boot lickers during WWII. And after losing both world wars, you guys begged the Serbs to accept you into Yugoslavia. Foolishly, we did. That's some proud history Blerim. Bet you can't wait to tell your grandkids.

Blerim

pre 11 godina

Gosh, why is it that only Serbs insist that Serbs and Croats are "brothers" especially after trying to rape/ethically cleanse their way through Croatia -- indeed, Croats never claim the same as they are comfortable and confident of their own identity and proud history that has been celebrated well before the Serbian experiment of the 20th century (which was prefaced by manufacturing a common language in the mid-19th century!)

Also, given that many Croats share much of their culture and history with Slovenians, why is it that neither Slovenian nor Croat view themselves as brothers?
