They are actually eager to continue with the negotiations. Why? They love us so much, or there is something else hidden between the lines. Or they actually cannot accept that one small country has the guts and self-respect to say no to their shameful offer.

This is no time for panic as pressure builds in the run up to the deadline on 16th April. Remember the uproar when Cameron said No to the EU a few months ago; as a consequence, he (and Britain) are now more respected. In fact, there is good reason for Serbia to stay out of the EU. I wish Croatia had done the same. After "escaping" one union, they threw themselves into another. They have to learn to be independent and to accept responsibility for their own failures, not always seeking fault elsewhere.
Serbia must not sell its soul in return for EU membership nor should it trust Russia too much. History shows that the powerful states primarily mind their own interest.
Serbia has a duty of care for its people just like, I think, Croatia and Albania should have for theirs. But this requires mutual respect and co-operation across the national divide. I wish some of the Albanian and Serb nationals posting their comments on these pages would use a different tone, accept that the two nations have done each other much harm over the years and that they need to start thinking and working together.

Something came out anyway from these negotiations.
Just have a look on the comments.
Serbian comments are not the same anymore.
Nobody says "Kosovo is Serbia!" anymore. Not even here!
One more step on the directions to prepare people that Kosovo is lost is done.
It looks that politicians and intellectuals that created the myth of Kosovo are doing the opposite now and with good results. Even the church is not pushing hard as in the past anymore.
Serbians are growing up! That's a good news!

Serbia was making an effort to cope with EU blackmail which was something like “ there is a chance for you to get the date for the start of accession talks , but first you have to accept everything we propose, and not ask any questions”. I don’t think so!

It is obvious that Catherine took the Serbian rejection of the proposal very hard, because it is going to be a dark spot on her political carrier. The same way Kosovo is a dark spot in our life for a long time, and we want this problem to be solved, but not by recognizing the independence of Kosovo. So if EU wants to help us, it is up to them to make the last effort and change its demands towards Serbia.

Asked whether the message about "making a last effort" was sent only to Belgrade or to Priština as well, the spokesperson said, "the message was sent to the Serbian government."

Then it was sent to the wrong people. Real pressure needs to be pushed on Pristina to abandon their silly dreams of domination and control over regions populated by people that want nothing to do with them. The same was forced on Belgrade, so Pristina should expect and get nothing less.

Full executive autonomy for a Kosovo Serb Assembly within a loose political framework of Kosovo. It's not like Pristina has any practical use for these areas anyway. Otherwise, we're back to where we've always been :)
