Man kills 13 people in village south of Belgrade

when horrible things like this happen, people always tend to blame society, which i've always found odd, it almost absolves the perpetrator of responsibility. i can't fathom what pushed this man over the edge, or if he had mental issues, but ultimately the buck stops with him.

This is what happens when Serbian and Croatian war veterans are left to their own devices. No support from the gov. or health services. The past is now catching up with them. The mind games can only last for so long. 40 veterans in Croatia take their lives every year,its probably the same in Serbia. This information is never made public. Its a dam shame, people have to live like this in this day and age.

Spree shootings like this have happened all over the world, not just in the Balkans. Just recently an article here in the U.S. was commending Serbia for having made a determined effort to reduce the number of guns held by the public - of course, in connection with the difficulty we are having here doing the same thing over here.

If it's any consolation, this seems to be a rare, horrifying event in Serbia, not the common occurrence it has become here.

A) The shooting happens right on the day where Serbia was given a deadline to make its decision on Kosovo.

Yet, that is one of the first things some of our Serbian diaspora friends and not only diaspora do when something similar happens and Albanians are involved. This massacre was reported here in Australia and yes the man was described as a Serb. Not from Serbia but a Serb which could also mean that the shooting could've happened anywhere. It's only when you get into the story that you find out that the shooter was in Serbia. The headlines don't mention that.

May the Lord and His infinite goodness have mercy on us all, and may those left behind find peace in their souls.
