Now its clear that "D" day has never existed, and everything was just a trap of Arnauts and their western allies to catch Serbia unprepared to react, so they could finish their plan...quickly. Unfortunately for them, this time Serbia has a very good diplomatic team who reacted on blackmails properly and they didnt throw Serbia on her knees. Now insted blackmails and some non-paper offers on table we got negotiations. Western allies will continue with their preasures on Serbia's public to accept this indecent proposal, but now Serbia has put some red lines and I guess negotiations will go on in some other way. No ultimatums will be accepted that is clear now,so its on EU and Arnauts to change their perspective of this problem. Also they have to see finally that Serbia has gave her best(and more) in this conversation,so Arnauts need to improve and loosen up their attitude. That change will possbily bring to success.

R2D2,

Unfortunatly thats the view of both parts, they feel like the other side have not done enough. Why this is stands clear to me, they have different views on the outcome.

To Serbia, Kosovo have not cooperated until they atleast get executive powers. To Kosovo, Serbia wont have cooperated until it leaves northern Kosovo, and get a "halv-recognition"(a deal, something that can be interpreted differently. like the border)

Mr.Love

Serbia is willing and able to continue with negotiations unlike Arnauts side which only knows how to play a war drums. Serbia is determined to continue with finding a proper solution which can be accepted by both sides. Participating in negotiations is not being a wall as Aranauts do and just hearing an echo back, being a real negotiator is to know how to handle and respect with the other side and their wishes and demands. In this case only Serbian side behaves that way. Serbia stil expect from EU to make some preasure on Arnauts side to accept the agreement. Speaking od Ashton..there is no much to say...she plays her role and does her job as grand commander said. No one can be mad at her, she does only what she is paid for. She can be sad or happy, but her words also present time and future are written by a worlds boss...and that fact is unable to change in this moment

Ashton didn't have a chance. The Albanians either would not budge, or Thaci didn't have the political support in Kosovo to make any kind of concession, and once again the EU had a prescribed solution, before the negotiations even began: Squeeze Serbia. It is all that the EU and NATO have done for 14 years, they don't have any other tricks. Just Squeeze, that's all they gave Ashton. They didn't even let her make an offer in writing!

So now what? Even if Dacic and Company agreed, the EU would still be years off, and the EU threat is simply not going to be felt by the average citizen. Life is going to go on as it has in the past.

Mrs. Ashton,

If you had done your homeworks better you'd understand that there's more to this than simply making a rational deal that circles around better economical future. This wasn't enough to get Serbia to bite the hook. You don't have to play not to understand what these other matters are, you've got plenty of them around. But in case Union Jack, the Palace of Westminster, your national anthem, the endurance of English people / Londoners under Nazi aerial bombing etc. mean you nothing, then you wouldn't understand. As your own people don't function purely on some rational basis it is pretty foolish to expect such behaviour from others.

And I oppose your view that it's just the Serbian government that rejected the proposals. As I've understood it was also you and Kosovo that rejected proposals, namely the Serbian ones. Or was the nature of negotiations such that Serbia's proposals weren't counted in?

It is impossible to put the past behind when a solution has been artificially imposed by deceit, manipulation, lies and forceful intervention. Kosovo is a historical part of Serbia, it has always been like that and it will continue to be viewed like that. European history has a long memory and nothing goes unpunished towards the end. This fiasco called European Union will eventually be thrown to the garbage bin of history together with the artificial status of Kosovo it tries so hardly to protect.

...But two things more I must say. (M.Thatcher)

First, about our fundamental aims. It would be both cruel and stupid to expect the Albanian Kosovans now to return to live under any form of Serbian rule. Kosovo must be given independence, initially under international protection. And there must be no partition, a plan that predictable siren voices are already advancing. Partition would only serve to reward violence and ethnic cleansing. It would be to concede defeat. And I am unmoved by Serb pleas to retain their grasp on most of Kosovo because it contains their holy places. Coming from those who systematically leveled Catholic churches and Muslim mosques wherever they went, such an argument is cynical almost to the point of blasphemy.

Second, about the general conduct of the war. There are, in the end, no humanitarian wars. War is serious and it is deadly. Trying to fight a war with one hand tied behind your back is the way to lose it.But we should have no doubt that it is not our troops or pilots, but the men of evil, who bear the guilt.

The goal of war is victory. And the only victory worth having now is one that prevents Serbia ever again having the means to attack its neighbors and terrorize its non-Serb inhabitants. That will require the destruction of Serbia's political will, the destruction of its war machine and all the infrastructure on which these depend.

Desar your comments are as laughable as they are cynical. You seem to be under the delusion that if you keep harping on about how cruel and nasty the Serbians are someone will believe you and you may regretably persuade a few morons but not anyone with any knowledge of what actually happened in the wars of YU disintegration. Serbia didn't attack any constituent republic first and that's fact. The Croats were arming themselves before they declared seccesion in Croatia and Bosnia. The muslims similarly in Bosnia and Kosovo. It was they who were preparing for war not the Serbs.I don't remember the Serbians demanding freedom initially anywhere they were quite happy living in a multiethnic society and it is still the most diverse republic. So please stick a sock in it until you have something less disingenuous to say in future and just thank god that people like the Serbs inhabit this planet that they have the misfortune to share with the likes of you!!!

Dear Baroness. Why didn’t you give up on Falklands Islands which are so far from UK. You people let almost 1000 people get killed and so many wounded, and for what? For a peace of land which is not a natural part of the UK territory. Kosovo is part of Serbia and you want us to give it up. Sorry, but not in this life.

Dear Foreign Minister, I would like to thank you for your efforts. They were not as fruitless as it may seem now. This issue has been going on for a long time, it won't be solved overnight. Don't give up, but either shall we.
(Srboljub, 8 April 2013 21:00)

You are right. We shouldn’t give up on negotiations. But also we shouldn’t give up on Kosovo.

Desar....
You sound just as intelligent as Wesley Clark & Nazi Co...."to destroy the Jugoslav Army (Serbian Army's)capability in waging war" Ya how did that work for you... LOL. Serbia will always have an army... a professional army unlike the West that is very proficient in missile strikes on rubber decoys! Over and over and over again! I almost forgot they destroyed schools, hospitals, Churches. Wow what an accomplishment. BTW the army withdrew with 99% of its military assets. It's an awesome feeling to be Serbian.

"This fiasco called European Union will eventually be thrown to the garbage bin of history together with the artificial status of Kosovo it tries so hardly to protect."
(Canadian Reader, 8 April 2013 23:36)

Maybe, in some decades. Just like the fiasco ones called 'Socialist Republic of Yugoslavia' was thrown into the garbage bin, though Milosevic and his cronies tried so hardly (and violently) to 'protect' it, against the will of people of other ethnicities.

Keep looking backwards serbia and you will crash forwards. Move on and apologize to all the victims so we can all get along.

OK Hrvat. Keep celebrating your NAZI collaborating in WW2.

Don’t worry Catherine. It will be another round of negotiations soon. But this time think what you are going to propose. We don’t want to give up on Kosovo or on our pride.

Ashton has failed miserably and her actions speak volumes for EU. I have no doubt that you will be removed seeing as how you wasted 9 months of our lives. God bless America because Europe would cease to exist; I'm not talking just about WWII.
