The truth is nothing much would change even if the agreement was accepted by both parties, or after it was accepted. The worst case scenario is that this pressure from Brussels is not going to force admittance of Serbia in EU, not for another decade, I am afraid. Even then, there will be this ultimatum on Kosovo independence. That brings us back to the beginning of the story, right?

It is obvious that EU stands on Pristinas side. What they do not know is that no matter what, Serbian people do not like ultimatums and blackmail.

Mary

Tell the EU to shove their ultimatum and head East to Russia and China for trade and diplomacy. Serbia doesn't need to be in a union with people who don't want them.
(michael, 8 April 2013 17:01)

Good point, Michael. Anyhow, I am not even sure it is good for Serbia to be a part of a union where a few counties rule, and the rest are begging for crumbs. See what happened to Greece, Spain and more others.

“we will insist that those talks be held under the auspices of an organization of which we are a member.” Well there goes you logic. If you intend to move in to "complex a" then you cant have "complex b" setting up conditions. Sorry but it is the a*s of complex a that you have to keep kissing if you want to bee allowed in!

Is there anything what Serbia could do not become a black sheep? Everything that was in in our hands we done it. We have offered even more then we suppose to but again we have arrived at closed door of EU. Arnauts are holding their position firm, rushing and forcing us to make some reckless move so they could celebrate. That was maybe(very)possible with some other negotiators but now they hit a wall, so now we can expect some warfare moves from Arnauts. Serbian negotiators are now trying to calm things down and put talks in a less vigorous surrounding. We(Serbs)are people of good will always in mood for peaceful solution unlike Arnauts who are always trying to make things harder and agression coloured.

Lenard,

You seem to be envious of Serbia-RS relations and the relative well being of RS citizenry (compared to Croats in BiH). Have BiH Croats already agreed with Muslims (Bosniaks), what is written in school history books about the Bosnian War, particularly about the fights between Croats and muslims? How is it in Mostar, do Croat and Bosniak schoolchildren still attend separate classes and study different textbooks? Is the reconciliation going on well between these two sides that were the Good Ones while Serbs were the Bad Guys?

What should RS Serbs learn from BiH Croats? Which lessons can Croats give?
(Olli, 8 April 2013 11:35) Well Olli much better then the minority Serbs with the majority of Croatians and Bosniaks of Bosnia. More schools have been integrated Mostar is doing much better a lot of people regret what happened between them reconciliation is progressing. When they were hard pressed ethnically criminally cleansed by the minority Serbs in the 1990's. Which caused a lot of friction between the Croatians and Bosniaks. As over a million plus were ethnically cleansed from their homes by the minority Serbs in to Croatian majority areas were overwhelmed with Bosniak refugees and other nationalities. We know who is the problem don't worry Bosnia and Croatia cooperate good http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AvzgrgWqNH8 in a lot of fields except with the Greater Belgrade Serbia wicked imaginary fantasy of "Srpska" entity.

Serbia 1 and Serbia 2 agree on Serbia 3.

For months of negotiation and declarations by Serbia 1 that the progress is made confirmed by the other negotiating party and the mediator, fully in line with Serbian morals in politics today we have a massive U turn: ultimatum.

One should laugh at you or cry?????

and then it even goes one with:

“we will insist that those talks be held under the auspices of an organization of which we are a member.”

uuhhhh what is wrong with neutral organizations in which neither Serbia or Kosova are members, such as the EU?????

ahhhh the classic Serbian understanding of fariness :)

why do you need UN you are already UN member. You have fulfilled those requirments. You are not member of the EU and you want to make sure EU that you are ready to be its part, don't you??

"He said that if one insists on talks on relations between Serbia and Kosovo, "the format used in the negotiations so far will not be acceptable" - and that “we will insist that those talks be held under the auspices of an organization of which we are a member.” "

What a silly proposal. We had UN auspices under Athisaari and the EU auspices under Ashton. You think that the arguments of each side change depending on the forum? What's gonna be next? CoE? UEFA?

You just waste time.

Lenard

pre 11 godina

During the talks with the RS delegation headed by President Milorad Dodik, Serbia's stands were met with full understanding. The officials voiced their wish that Serbia and RS would progress further. In their mutually criminally bound self inflicted demise pity. You would think they should of learned something by now it totally don't look like it. The blind leading the blind watch for the cliff oops.
