So Kosovo wants its own independence on a land that does not belong to it - that's fine. But then they don't want to give the Serbs in the North the independence they want on a land that is actually theirs. How hypocrite is that? It is pretty obvious who the moron and the trouble maker is. Why should Serbs, who have been Serbs for hundreds of years become 'Kosovans' and have a different nationality and passport. That's absolutely stupid.

Serbia has lived without the EU for so long and I am pretty sure it can cope for a lot longer without it.

He was talking about EU member countries, that every EU member has to agree to an access of a new member state. But of course Kosovo is not an EU state, in fact it is light years away from any EU standards, so Pristina is in no position to block anything regarding EU.
(Questioner, 27 March 2013 15:07)

Issue is that is not being reported that Croatia will add a laundry list once it becomes a member in June :) you see this is why Nikolic, Dacic are scrambling as they know that it will be a rough rough road maybe 2015 or 16 just to start.

Serbia desperately needs the EU funds.

Rocky NATO membership for Kosovo is an excellent idea and a must for the future safety of that country. NATO members have to help Kosovo to prepare to become a member like they helped others in the last 10-15 years.

Most nonSerbian posters here do so for 2 reasons:
1. To confront some of the outrageous untruths that many of the Serbs here post.
2. To irritate the pretend ultranationalists that have moved out of Serbia and want to keep Serbia as some sort of antiquated museum they can go back to once every few years.
So when you post like you do it only encourages not discourage the comments.
Have a good day!

Will Serbian media never stop to manipulate the Serb public with RETIRED people like Altmann? You will find so many such persons with their different personal opinion. There can be only one advise for Serbia: follow your own way, there are enough people within Serbia who should be more important as such a pensioner from abroad who is also not knowing more as he can read in newspapers. This believing in persons, Vucic is good and Nikolic is giving the wrong persons for Germany medals, is stupid. Germany like other countries are following their interests what Serbia should also do. Persons like Altmann are coming from a"grey area" of political connected "research". They will never give the Serbs a useful advice. Why the Serbs are not able to have such "interviews" in German media? The Serbs must see more behind the scenery. Otherwise ist the end. Sure, nobody serious can see any real political or economical interest in Berlin to push Serbias EU-path. Croatia is acatholic country and the EU has made not good experience with the both orthodox countries within the EU. Serbia, dont dream useless phantasies. There is no "good uncle" waiting of rescuing Serbians economy or society if the Serbs are not doing it alone step by step.

I hope Serbia will call Eu's bluff. Even if Serbia does everything they ask for there will always be one country that will be against Serbias Eu bid. So, Serbia will give up on its people in Kosovo for nothing. After Croatia no other country will be able to join, at least for 100 years. Serbia don't give in to hypocrites in the Eu and terrorist albanians. We need to stick to our Kosovo policy and prevent albanians from expelling the remaining serbs.

Our German friends have known all along that Serbia lacks credible leadership. Therefore, the Germans will not give permission to allow Serbia to begin EU ascension talks. They know Serbia is a weak link and always will be. Thus far, Serbia has not been able to inspire confidence regarding its ability to embrace European principles.

John

pre 11 godina

With each day passing it gets clearer that Serbia will not succeed as wanted. The "EU and Kosovo" policy will never get real because EU member states are not willing to import a 2nd Cyprus in terms of unsolved conflicts. No parliament, at least not in Northern Europe, will ratify Serbia's accession with that Kosovo burden.

So Serbia has to make the choice now if they want to continue the EU path. If Belgrade is not willing or capable then they have to say it now. Then they must end all EU ambitions and withdraw application. There are only those 2 options on the table. That news here confirms it again.

Let’s be honest. Two things are going to happen with the first being that the talks about Kosovo on 2 April will fail and the second there will be not talks about Serbia joining the EU in June this year or next.
It’s exhausting have to repeat that the EU is hanging by a very thin thread that can unravel at any time. In fact both Cyprus and Athens were caused by the EU. In the case of Athens, they borrowed cheap money even from Cyprus but when Greece stumbled and the EU wiped part of the debt, the Cypriot banks were not compensated despite Brussels giving promises to do so.
What you have now is a fiasco to say the least. The EU is no longer looked upon as a safe haven to park your money; in fact it is now looked on similar terms to a third world banking system where money is taken without regard to any guarantees given to investors.
The phones are running hot in Singapore with bank call centres having to call all their staff to handle the overload of enquiries about investing in Asian banks.
The two power houses, France and Germany are in trouble. France is owed money by Spain and Italy. While the Germans have Greece and Cyprus and the predicted growth for Germany in 2013 is 0.3 at best – the 6% unemployment will double in a very short time and by this period next year it could reach the high teens.

The EU should not rush itself, in giving Serbia the green light to start the EU membership process! Serbia, has time and time again, shown that she has not yet fully developed into a democracy she claims to be! In my opinion, It would be much wiser to give Kosova, some time to make the necessary strides forward & towards NATO membership first! NATO has been on the ground in Kosova for 14 years now, it would be a good idea & an excellent moment to expedite Kosova's NATO ambitions first! This way, it would harmonize the process's of integration for both Kosova, and Serbia! Once Kosova became a NATO member, then would be a good idea to allow Serbia, to become a EU member! You would then have, 2 country's, which would be more willingly and able to cooperate with each other, and in good faith from both country's!
