Albanians in particular do not like Kostunica because he says what everyone knows is true. It is the goal of the EU powers to make Kosovo an independent Country, everyone knows that and people pretend it isn't true and that the EU is status neutral. Yet when Kostunica says it, it makes him a dangerous nationalist because Serbia's enemies do not want to be interrupted or contradicted when they tell Serbs that the EU is status neutral.

Protection of sovereignty in your constitution isn't sudden, it is the right of every state. Heck even Kosovo, which is a pretend state, claims the right to protect its sovereignty but when Kostunica wants to protect Serbia's sovereignty people like EA want to know how he plans to do it. Kostunica set out how: through every legal means in not waiving Serbia's international rights to Kosovo. These rights are apparent, if Serbia did not have them, no one would be pressuring Serbia to give them up. All Serbia has to do is say no and pay the consequences (threats and intimidation from the west that will never amount to anything more than further threats and intimidation). In the meantime Serbia's position will be stronger

Kostunica is a patriot, not a nationalist. There is a big difference that seems to be overlooked. Albanian's can live in a multi-ethnic Serbia and be patriots themselves, with no problems. In Kosovo, they become nationalists, and end up committing atrocities (burning churches, desecrating graves, destroying non-Albanian homes,usurping land, basically...cultural and ethnic genocide).

We can all appreciate your stance as an Albanian/Kosovan patriot (as is your right), but you have shown yourself to be a bigot and nationalist. Which doesn't help anything but create greater animosity. The only reason the West is actively pursuing independence, is to merely finish what they started and diminish Serbia by cutting off their natural resources.

The problem in Koshtunica is that he is a blind nationalist and NEVER says how he would re-establish territorial integrity and sovereignity over Kosovo. Never! He quickly and unilaterally (if you like) wrote Serbian constitution while negotiations were taking place to purely make as impossible as he could to look for long lasting solution to the problem. Now that the Serbia is trying "to make concessions"...is finding it difficult to accept the reality which would mean "another humiliation". Kostunica has clearly stated on numerous occasions that Serbia should FREEZE the Kosovo conflict until it is in a position of power or at least NOT in a position of weakness such as now. Please check the dictionary for the meanings of "non-binding" and "opinion" and compare them with the meaning of the word "ruling".

That ICJ did NOT RULE that "Kosovo's independence is legal" as you claimed. It gave a NON-BINDING OPINION about Kosovo's DECLARATION of independence, not whether Kosovo is actually independent and entitled to statehood or not. So the Eskimos in Alaska can probably also get away with their own declaration of independence from Yankee Land as far as the ICJ is concerned!

The question is who's the moron and clown: The ICJ ruled that Kosovo's DECLARATION of independence (like any other 'UDI') didn't violate any international law, simply because there is no law about that.

In the case of Kosovo, it especially didn't violate the (still valid) UN resolution 1244, because the declaration of independence was made by some 'people of Kosovo' and not by Kosovo officials who would have violated UN1244.

Furthermore, the judges explicitly mentioned that this has NO implication on the statehood of Kosovo.

So, for you and all others:

1. Legality of UDI -> yes, every group of people can declare themselves independent, it doesn't violate any law.

2. Legality of the independent state of Kosovo -> not covered by the ruling.
