Do I detect bitterness in your comment. You must learn to be a gracious loser, earning more respect, instead of uttering petty criticisms toward your superior opponent.
(The Count of Kosova, 23 March 2013 05:49)

So the opposition fans give right arm salutes, boo their opponents anthem and chant 'Kill the Serb' in order to provoke the Serbian players, meanwhile these acts of overt racism somehow miss you and you go on to lecture the Serbs here about learning to be "gracious losers".

Now if the shoe had been on the other foot and the Serb fans were chanting "Death to Albanians", you would be jumping up and down demanding action but when its racism directed towards Serbs you somehow contrive to ignore it as if nothing happened. Well I condemn racism and intolerance no matter where it comes from and directed towards whom.

Some people really do need a sense of perspective.

P.S. Serbia were rubbish on the night and those defensive errors have really cost them. Time is running out for Mihajlovic.

What difference does my name make!

I for one am so impressed with how much of an expert in sporting statistics you are and how much you know about the popularity of different sports around the world. I didnt even know that tennis wasn't a sport until I read your post, thanks for the heads up on that, would of made a real fool of my self going around talking about the sport of tennis.
what exactly is the difference between a game and a sport? just off the top of your head can you name some world famous footballing legends pre pele and bjon borg era?? no googling, that would be cheating!
...and what exactly is lawn darts, is it a sport or a game, does it even exist!?? maybe you saw it first hand whilst conducting your world cup survey in the remote villages of Siberia.
people mentioned other sports because maybe they enjoy other sports and are proud that their country has made achievements in those sports! its very arrogant of you to determine whats more popular or relevant or irelivant. I didn't know this site was a footballing forum, I thought you could just make comments and respond to other peoples comments. why are you wasting your time here with the footballing ignorants like myself when you could go to fifa.com or some other similar site and impress the hell out of hardcore football geniuses with your superior expert knowledge of the game.

Since you are a man of values I wonder why you made no comment on the way croatian fans behaved? If it was the other way around you would be all over the place with your condemnation. I know there are good and decent croats but you are not one of them. Go back to Mostar and plan another bombattack against the muslims.

Lets not pretend that volleyball and tennis have anywhere near the popularity or emotional power that football has. Any man in Europe will tell you football is king. Ask anybody in the most remote village of Siberia who the world cup champs in football are and they can tell you it's Spain. As for basketball, if it's not the NBA who cares? USA is so much better than anyone else that the rest of the world is relevant. As for tennis, it's a game, it's not a sport. I guess that's how we are though, if we had the best ping pong player in the world we would make it out to be bigger than football. It's like Croats bragging about skiing, who cares? Football is everything. We grow up playing it, watching it, and living it. Sure some kids play tennis, but every kid, every one, plays football. How much did we care about tennis 15 years ago? How much will we care in 15 years if nobody takes Novak's place (and given the small population, probably this is reality) Now compare that to football. People talk about footballers that played 30 years ago, who can name a tennis player older than Bjorn Borg? We cared about this game against Croatia and we would trade all the volleyball and handball in the world for football victories! Instead of pretending we don't care about football shouldn't we care more? Shouldn't we make our game better? I can't believe people post volley ball stuff in a discussion about football. But hey, maybe there is a Serb really good at lawn darts.

When you do mention our "Chetnik" grandpa why don't you also mention your "ustasha" grandpa?
There was never and still no shame in having a Chetnik ancestry as Chetniks fought AGAINST Nazis while there is a great deal of shame in having Ustasha ancestry because you guys WERE the Nazis. So next time think about what you write.

Croatia and Serbia will have this rivalry going on for decades http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/gallery/2013/mar/22/croatia-serbia-sporting-rivalry their is no love loss between the two. I have a hard time blaming the players and the coach. Could it have been better, yes. But given the situation in Serbian football today, I have a hard time blaming the players and coach when there are so many non-football related issues going against them.

I get sick to my stomach when I see Tole (Jaba the Hut) beside Suker. A businessman of questionable character beside a legitimate soccer legend, both running their respective FA. To me that says more about the soccer situation than what happened on the field.

As for the fans, I couldn't agree more with Jovan. Both sides (and all the balkans for that matter) have more than their fair share to be ashamed about. Its a real shame it's so bad we can't even have a regional league (in my mind the only thing that can save Balkan football) because of security.

For those of you who want a change of coach. Who else do we have? Do you really think changing coaches every year is going to solve anything? Mihajlovic imas moj podrsku!

hans sokolovic

pre 11 godina

On another point.

Croatia scored 2 goals on 3/4 chances.
1 goal off a mistake
1 goal off a simulated foul

Serbia scored 0 goals on 3/4 chances. 2 of which were on the doorstep.

That is soccer... Serbia should focus less on changing the coach as much as they should focus on finding some finishing! You could have the best team/coach/fss in the world but if you don't finish your chances... ZA NISTA!

Uneducated, ignorant and primitive.

BBC reports

"And despite repeated appeals by the Croatian football authorities to respect the visiting side, the home crowd soon started singing fascist songs from the 1940s - when tens of thousands of Serbs died in Croatia at the hands of the Ustasa militias."

Wow these comments are off topic. First Croatia won this one, we didn't play our best but they were the better team on paper and were predicted to win and they did. If people want to say this game meant nothing to Serbia today they are liars. It meant everything but we knew the chance of victory was slim so it was downplayed in the media. The police were guarding the Croat embassy for God's sake! if we won it would have been massive party so don't diminish the game. Second, lets not argue about whose fans are worse when we all know there is enough guilt to go around here. Does anyone remember our qualifier in Italy? Does anyone really believe our fans would have behaved if the match was here? To be honest I suspect it would have been very bad behaviour if the match was here. Imagine, 2-0 Croatia wins in BG? It would have been deadly! Sadly our rivalry extends to who hates the other guys more and that takes 2 sides, we have never backed down in such a case. So yes, looking forward to September but I just hopes it is as peaceful as this one was.

And where were you all those times serbs beat Croatia in handball, volleyboll, basketball, waterpolo and tennis? Listen to yourself. Braging about someone elses success. (The Count of Kosova, 23 March 2013 05:49)

Do you even know what the words bitter and petty mean? It's one thing to lose to a better team, which was the Croatian team. It's another to have to endure Nazi salutes, ethnic slurs, and chants "kill the Serb" -- after Thompson (apparently Croatia's only successful musician) opens with a song, especially from a country that loves to pride itself as being above petty Balkan chauvinism yet never seems to miss any opportunity to come off worse than the most debased Albanian racist. If the Serbian team had any pride, they would have walked off the field the minute the Ustasa slogans were shouted. Petty criticisms? How petty is it for a country to channel national pride by associating with the deranged Nazi puppet state in the 1940s? What's even worse is that for an alleged Albanian like you (also allegedly claiming to come from Kosovo), you automatically side with it because of mutual hate for Serbs.

You might want to look up the words "bitter" and "petty" in the dictionary before you reply again with something "stupid".

ZA NISTA!

On the other hand the Serbian team performed badly, the work rate still seems to be below what one expects at international level.

WE COULD HAVE WON ONLY IF WE PLAYED LIKE THE SECOND HALF THE WHOLE MATCH + NO STUPID DIFFENCE MISTAKES !! :( I FEEL REALLY BAD NOW, WILL WE EVER QUALIFY TO WORLD CUP OR NOT ?!!

Lenard

Since you are a man of values I wonder why you made no comment on the way croatian fans behaved? If it was the other way around you would be all over the place with your condemnation. I know there are good and decent croats but you are not one of them. Go back to Mostar and plan another bombattack against the muslims.

Lenard said, "So don't be jealously constipated Serbs..."

A dignified human being, who respects himself, would not write such crude and useless trash.

What difference does my name make!

@ jovan

ZA NISTA!
