To Rocky :(what a name) you seem to be paid to repeat the same things all over again (is it your mission?)...30 years of humiliation??? and is that why so many Albanians came to live in Kosovo within Yougoslavia ?since the population grew so dramatically during that same period of time?..is it because life was so hard having your own schools,a system of education and health services...and basically you all had the same right (use of your language and your news-papers etc... as anyone else in then yougoslavia...can you give some example of what kind of humiliation you are talking about? many people suffered and disappeared on ALL sides and your numbers are bogus...Now if we do not want to go as far back as when America was calling the KLA a terror organization or the SS voluntary corps of Albanians, than let's stick to the present and you,you Albanians of the "new" born conutry)show respect and real justice, let refugees return and live in peace and then and only then you should require recognition....that might be the hardest impossible thing for you to do...be BETTER than the people you are accusing of mistreating you back then....

After many years of conflicts, the region should start a new phase of the dialogue. Serbia is committed to the dialogue. But political will and courage to make a compromise are necessary for the progress in the Belgrade-Priština relations. Serbia is ready to make the dialogue work but it is not ready for humiliation and double standards. I hope the dialogue will lead to a fair and permanent solution and that all of us will turn to the future,” he said.

Humiliation? Double standards? Dacic, are you forgetting the humiliation & double standards your Serbia forcefully inflicted upon the citizens of Kosova during the 1980s-1990s? Dacic, are you forgetting ethnic cleansing of non Serbs within Kosova, that your government of Serbia ordered to be enforced upon the majority citizens of Kosova? This dialog currently underway, between Kosova & Serbia is not about humiliating Serbia, rather this dialog & process is about respecting the will of the people of Kosova, the will that now, nearly 100 nations have made the choice to support & respect! This process, should be looked at by Serbia and her people, as a chance to "de-humiliate" Serbia, of the humiliation she has cast upon herself, for the last 20-30 years! Kosova's majority Albanians population, has forever lost, between 7,500-10,000 of her sons & daughters, due to Serbia's humiliating policy's of the last 30 years! So Dacic, don't try and force upon us, Serbia's interpretation of the meaning of humiliation!

I would say it would be the perfect statement to counter, "we will never explicitly or implicitly recognize an independent Kosovo" As recognitions continue and Kosovo is over the 50% mark it is evident that there is no turning back.
Now Serbia has something to negotiate with and be a winner, they can agree to recognition of Kosovo with the understanding that there will be no such lawsuits filed. It would actually be a win for both sides as any such lawsuit would actually take decades in an international court setting.

I'm sorry I will not be making friends with this comment.

The reality is that the world has settled the kosova issue. Not because they like Albanians or Serbs more than the other it is because they want to be done with jugoslavia. Serbia was left in charge and it didn't turn out too nice. Now they will Prishtina a chance.

The money is no big deal to these greater powers. They will keep sending money to Belgrade and Prishtina they just want u guys to shut up, sit down, and be good.

Serbia has recognized kosova and now all that's left if for Serbia to get a date to eu, so the great powers have Serbia and Bosnia play nice. The powers don't hate or love anyone in the Balkans. They just want everyone to be good and do ripple their backyard.

To seek war reparation Kosovo must be an entity in the International law, and since it is not, Mr. Tachi coud kiss the money goodbye.
(Nina R., 22 March 2013 21:16)

Actually the observer status in the UNGA which require only majority of member states no consent from UNSC suffices.

pss

pre 11 godina

A couple of things, Does Serbia think there can be more humiliation than the UNSC adopting a resolution expelling you from part of your country and keeping international forces there for 14 years with the task of keeping your forces from moving across the border. Can there possibly be more humiliation than publicly declaring that this land is yours and your highest leaders must ask permission to visit and then if it is denied there is nothing you can do about it?
A negotiated end which has a voluntary agreement to let that land go is not even in the ball park of humiliation that the leaders are condemning Serbia to.
If anyone listened to the UNSC it was almost laughable when it came around to Russia. He read his statement so fast that I expected him to jump up and run to the bathroom as soon as he finished. A gastrointestinal disorder is the only thing I have seen that could cause someone to be in that big a hurry to finish.
And at last a new term to float for the next few months---"ethnic cleansing by peaceful means" as opposed to the Milosevic method of ethnic cleansing by force and violence.

Its is quite obvious that the two sides are far a part from any agreement. Serbia is not truly looking for a compromise with Kosovo. Anyone familiar with Kosovo's past could see that Serbia wants a division of Kosovo. There is no state in the world that would agree to executive powers for a set of municipalities. Such an agreement would mean that Serbia is planting the seeds of separatism.

I can not see how Europeans are coming out saying that we are close to an agreement when the PM of Serbia defiantly says in front of the entire UN that Serbia will not recognize Kosovo. If you deny someone the chance to exist (in this case Kosovo) then Serbia is naturally preparing the field for a future conflict. Of course when the moment is ripe.

I personally do not see a solution in sight. I am afraid that at the end when these talks are declared a failure; Thaqi with the blessing of the NATO would have to move his army and take over the north by force just as Croatia did. With Nato troops guarding Kosovos borders Serbia is no threat to Kosovo. Furthermore Nato's patience is wearing thin with Serbs causing trouble every single day. History unfortunately has proven many times that Serbs are stuborn, defiant and incapable of striking a deal. This type of manuvering has caused Serbs a great deal of loss in Croatia, Bosnia and it will cost them dearly in Kosovo as well. All or nothing is always a dangerous proposition.

“Serbia wants agreement, but not humiliation”

Let me list shortly what Serbs want:

-They want a RS on Kosovo's soil with executive power which overrules Prishtina decision, giving more power to Serbs than they had during SFRY times and practically obstructing Kosovo in political life.
-They want to exclude those territories and make them de facto independent, and decreasing Kosovo's territories below the level before the war
-They want the smaller Kosovo with less power and decreased in size to remain a Serbian province.

Leave alone what Serbs have done 1989-99. This comes on top.

This is the Serbian version of "compromise". ... *lol*...

Thaci was asking for compensation in the UN"

Thaci is with this initiative blocking the possible Serbian property claims, so the Alabnians can keep the often stolen property.

Even UNSC President, when he took the floor as Russian Rep, he spoke mainly about the will of Serbs in northern Mitro and not entire Kosova. Look like, Russia will go along with signed agreement on April 2,2013. Just like Russian Ambassador to Belgrade said once: "I cannot be more of Serb than Serbs themselves", end of quote.

Thaqi with the blessing of the NATO would have to move his army and take over the north by force just as Croatia did. With Nato troops guarding Kosovos borders Serbia is no threat to Kosovo

I see, ten attack one guy while twenty of their mates are holding the guy's brother back.
Can you people get any more cowardly?
Let's see you do your own fighting for once.
Don't involve anyone else. You do it yourself if you have the guts.
OK, take Albania with you so you can't say I am not being fair.

Thaci was asking for compensation in the UN, is this the new understanding between Serbs and Albanians? Thaci is clever and shows that there is no room for illusions what he want.

sandy, asking for reparations is more than justifiable in light of all the destruction and suffering the K-Albanians went through.

This lot has been taking the same course as its predecessors and have led Serbia to humiliation and self-capitulation time and again. You are the case of it PM.

Reparations can be claimed by individuals - in fact, they receive priority over payments to states under international law.

Do you even live in Kosmet tough guy? Kosovo je Srbija get it through your thick skull!
(Ratko, 22 March 2013 20:18)

Repeating it doesn't make it true. Joseph Goebbels once said "If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it." Is this what you're trying to do here?

Come and visit Kosova and you will see that Kosova really isn't Serbia. I'm not lying, come and see with your own eyes!

"Kosovo je srbija" according to ratko. This is a good one. It is truly funny. Even a year ago I could read this in every second serbian comment. For the last few months serbs didn't want to look ridicule and didn't write it anymore. Even Dacic acknowledged that it is a lie. Well ratko reminds me of that Japanese soldier who was hiding in Guam for some 50 years and taught that WWII is still not over.

In the middle of negotiations we hear a statement that Hashim Thaci will seek war reparations from Serbia. Is this a new way to show his good will for reconciliation?
(SANDY, 22 March 2013 20:41)
I would say it would be the perfect statement to counter, "we will never explicitly or implicitly recognize an independent Kosovo" As recognitions continue and Kosovo is over the 50% mark it is evident that there is no turning back.
Now Serbia has something to negotiate with and be a winner, they can agree to recognition of Kosovo with the understanding that there will be no such lawsuits filed. It would actually be a win for both sides as any such lawsuit would actually take decades in an international court setting.

Actually the observer status in the UNGA which require only majority of member states no consent from UNSC suffices.
