Now that the heavyweights Sao Tome and Principe along with Mali have rescinded their recognition surely it's only a matter of time before everyone else falls into line......I hope for the sake of the Serbian taxpayers that their diplomatic representatives abroad are carrying out other more productive work along with the drive to not recognise or unrecognise (de-recognise?) Kosovo.

If it is true it will be great news. I believe that there is a pressure on Vatican to recognize Kosovo, but I also hope that they are smart enough to realize that Europe does not need another Muslim country, especially one that is artificially made.
(SANDY, 21 March 2013 17:17)

The Vatican would not be that stupid to recognise Kosovo as the previous Pontiffs, John Paul II and Benedict XVI have been working hard to reconcile with the Eastern Orthodox Churches. Any rash recognition by Francis I would undermine all the work done by his predecessors as well as heighten tensions between Catholics and Orthodox Christians in Serbia. It would be an act of diplomatic suicide.

No countries have rescind their recognition of Kosovo. In the cases he pointed out, those whom 'recognized' Kosovo had no authority to do so. But this is a good way to spread false hope to the people of Serbia. This is why the people of Serbia expect the impossible. Because their leaders are to afraid to tell them the truth. Serbia lost Kosovo.

The recognition of countries will only rise, and no country will rescind their recognition on Kosovo's independence. Serbia is trying their best to prevent further recognitions. Serbia should look and focus on their economy and their people. Sooner or later Serbia has to recognize Kosovo, might as well do it now and start improving your economy. Serbia wastes most of their time on something they cannot achieve, that is getting Kosovo back. Kosovo was never Serbia in the first place. As Ivica Dacic said to the Serbs that Kosovo was never ours, it was lied and passed on to generations and generations. As long as nationalist Tomislav Nikolic is president of Serbia, they will achieve nothing.
Nikolic=milosevic.

@kenny,
"Yeah, but Thaci was seated next to US vice Joe Biden. Sali Berisha was close to Angela Merkel. And Nikolic was somewhere in "nosebleed "section". So who exactly was just a guest like all other guests"

"Perhaps only foreign policy nerds (guilty!) will note that Kosovo Prime Minister Hashim Thaci’s meeting with Biden on Monday was unveiled at the last minute, after the announcement that the vice president would meet with Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic."

Are you sure The Snake wasn't sitting in Biden's lap. According to the article in the U.S. press, Biden didn't ceven are that the snake was in town.

Those 2 countries never actually formally recognized Kosova. As for the 100 counties that have formally recognized Kosova they will never change their position. And that 100 mark will only keep rising and there is nothing you or slobo can do about that...ask Germany, U, or US of A.

it is a shame that in the 21st century, a state that has actively hidden priest abuse of children, should wield so much power over many people. yes the Vatican is not going to change its mind on Kosova anytime soon, but it will come to our side of the argument at some point

“The ceremony of the pope’s enthronement is in a way an act that surpasses politics. So Thaci was a guest just like all other guests, thousands of them. This can probably be explained with the nature of the event, general Christian messages.”

"Thousands of them? But not among the heads of delegations from states and here Thaci was greeting t pobe after the president of Serbia together with kings and other royalties. It is not a good style by the Serbian FM not t tell the Serbs the truth also about the meeting between Nikolic and Thaci, organized/forced by the Austrian PM. This problems with the simple truth that Thaci was not standing there among thousands of visitors, he was seated among the delegations of independent states. It is one point to make some noise about little African countries and on the other hand to prepare in Brussels the fundament for mor recognitions of Kosovo and its membership in organizations of the UN-system. Dacic was telling, the government was not telling the truth concerning Kosovo. And whats now? the same procedure like every year.
The Serbian "diplomacy" has reached the lowest bottom. The FM was an ambassador-where? in Cyprus, the rest is silence.

Btw, Nikolic approached Thaci during the ceremony and went for the hand shake. Theres a pic of it floating around, just like of the seatings at the ceremony.

-The minister noted that Serbian diplomats were working on preventing new recognitions of Kosovo every day.-

If Serbia doesnt care about who recognizes Kosovo, why do you actively try to prevent recognitions? Looks like Belgrades efforts are bigger than Prishtinas when it comes to convincing other countries. Laughable.

Should the church have the right to meddle in politics?
God, I learned, sees all people as equal.
What makes the church takes sides? What gives them the right to rubber stamp the existence of one place or not.
