Leonidas, it is more than fair that those who gamble with their own money like Cypriot banks and funds hold the bag and lose big time by those haircuts and not the German taxpayer, who generally is very conservative with his money. So Greeks invested by Greeks and lost. It happens. "Don't cry for my Argentina....". As for Cyprus rich in energy deposits maybe the Russians will consider it and give Cyprus few billions. The big hope of Cyprus right now is the saving action of Russia. As I read the Cypriot finance minister doesn't want to leave Moscow until a big help package is agreed. So let see how long he will remain there.

Who says that I feel sorry for all those scumbag banksters? Unlike what you say, banks do not gamble with their own money but with their clients ones. The banksters have introduced fractional reserves which turned into leveraging clients deposits many times and turned everyone and every business into a slave to debt repayments for a fiat currency.

Banks around the world are bankrupt and bankrupts always need more capital hence all the printing. They will also need us to keep on buying their worthless 'assets' that no one else would touch with an extra long barge pole, on their off balance sheet books kept in their basement and marked to fantasy - for about the next two hundred years.

Instead of following the "one liner venomous Albanian postings" and post ignorant comments you should try to see the Cyprus banking crisis in a historical context and then make judgements. The Greek Cypriot banking system was crippled by contagion from the Greek bondholder haircuts. The articles in the German press with regard to the bailout in Greece are loaded with lies and half truths. It was the Greek and Greek Cypriot banks, pension funds, mutual funds and private bondholders who suffered more than 60% loses on the value of their bond holdings because of the 50% reduction on Greece's debt and not the German taxpayers. In fact the German taxpayers have made profits from the Greek bailout.

http://www.cityam.com/article/ecb-profits-its-greek-bonds

At the moment the score stands People of Cyprus 1- Merkel 0 and Cyprus should re-enforce the decision made by its parliament by leaving the Eurozone, introduce currency controls to prevent the flight of capital and re denominate all the money in its banks into Cypriot pounds (of which it can, of course, print an unlimited supply off its own back) and default on its external debts or agree to pay its creditors sometime in the future.

Cyprus is not a poor country but potentially a very rich one when one takes into consideration its significant energy reserves.

Is Serbia even following how Germany/EU is treating Cyprus? They want now to get their hands on depositors bank accounts there to cover the government's and bank financiers' debts?

Look at all the EU countries having problems. Only the core EU countries, such as Germany do the best.

Serbia should at least put their EU quest on hold for a few years.

Also notice these demands and requests SAY NOTHING ABOUT SERBIAN REFUGEES RETURNING AND LIVING SAFELY IN KOSOVO.
It says nothing about Serbia's property usurped and damaged by the Albanians and NATO.

Why is Serbia doing what these bullies want? They forever move the goal posts and can always bring up more or more exacting demands. There's something sadistic in their ways!

Amer, the peripheral countries of the EU should also be unwilling to keep supporting the German die hard ambition to keep the Euro Zone alive, even though it is on life support. Who has prospered the most from this Union, who has had the most benefit from this EU? The ones that are doing everything they can from it collapsing, even proposing stealing money from bank account holders, in another country, mind you. If the EU was so concerned about Russians placing their money in Cyprus, they could have proposed banking laws, laws that all EU countries would have had to respect. Now, that their butts are against the wall again, with another EU member in dire straits, they want to openly steal money from savers. I just wonder how many rich Germans had accounts in Cyprus, and how many pulled their money out before the account raid was proposed. You defend Germans blindly, I understand, they are a major supporter of Albanians in Kosovo, but in this case with Cyprus banks, they are wrong, and evil, and you are incorrect too.

Joe

Wow, Leonidas, you used to write smarter comments. Apparently you get very emotional this time and overlook that your compatriots in Cyprus are down on their knees and can't play the tough guys. It is the EU who could send them somewhere but I guess they will be compassionate again (like with you guys in Greece by writing of part of the huge debts)and help out after all.

Who cares...
100 Years ago Germany was one of the biggest and strongest countries!
But now Germany is dying and surly will become Turkestan 2.0 if this trend goes on for several decades.

I mean countries like Iraq/Kenia/Ugana/Yemen will have more then 100.000 Mil people in 2050 and Germany will decrease to 65/70 Mil people with many foreigners and elderly people = No more influence, perhaps the political elite will have influence but as a country Germany will be nothing anymore, not like 19/20th C and WW2..

When the Cash cow NATO leaves Kosovo will be for the take!

To explain what Germany knows about Western Balkan. Today the officail TV-channel was broadcasting the ceremony n Rome for the new pope. When Djukanovic from Montenegro was introduced to the pope the commentator (top officail from Vatican and professor) was aying this is Thaci from Kosovo. And commenting the interpreter between Djukanovic and the pope the "expert" said, the pope can not understand and speak "Kosovarian" language. The Germans certainly have no intention of taxing themselves to protect the off-shore accounts of Russian billionaires. It was the Cyprus government that decided to limit the hit on major (i.e., Russian) depositors by broadening the base to include their own small depositors. Their Parliament at this point seems unwilling to go along with the idea.

Does anyone see a pattern forming here with the Germans? A few days ago they propose that Cyprus raid the bank accounts of its depositors. The accounts are not all money launderers, but the majority are citizens whose life savings will be jeopardized. Now, the Germans want the Balkan stooges in front of cameras, making commitments to each other, like a cable reality show. German wants this, Germany wants that, who made them boss, again? Multiple wars, and multiple unimaginable crimes, including the world's worst genocide, still has not dampened this country's thirst for power. I would tell them to take their suggestions and shove them, if they want a freak show on camera, they can always film Merkel speaking at the Bundestag.

Now why would Germany want to do that and make Thaci out to be the liar we already know he is but now have a video to constantly remind him when he reneges on what's he's forced to agree to? He's under enough stress at it is :)

Nikoll, there are 2 Greek states and both of them bankrupt. If there would be 3 of them I am just wondering if all 3 would be bankrupt. Isn't it strange?

" few days ago they propose that Cyprus raid the bank accounts of its depositors. ..."

In this photo, Andreas Schockenhoff looks sickly ... like he might need to go back to rehab. Has a history of drunk driving and had to go away to dry out.

Ah, just give him a few drinks and put him on a bus back to Germany.

Nikolic in front of the cameras, renouncing Serbian territorial integrity. That will be the day.
Seriously it is a good idea because this will be a record of the promises and commitments they say they have made and puts an end to the flip-flopping statements made by either side so far.

In front of cameras or else it is not real? what should they do, shake hands? Hug? Sing a song? Such as "Alle Menschen werden Brüder"?

What I would tell my compatriots in Cyprus is to stick with their decision and tell the EU fascist bastards to go and f*** themselves.Period.
(Leonidas, 19 March 2013 22:51)

My sentiments exactly. Perfectly said Leonidas. I wish Serbia had some politicians with real cojones to tell the Germans this to their face, and tell them to get out of Serbia, they are not welcome. They have brought nothing but death and destruction with their actions, and they will never change.

Time will be our greatest friend!
