Unfortunately, the Serbs in Kosovo i Metohija + Ari Gold represent only about 2% of the Serbian electorate so not much say in Serbia’s politics, even though they might wish, believe or dream otherwise.

Well, I have to agree with some of the Albanian commentators here. Serbia pretty much ignored KiM during the days of the former Yugoslavia. Serbs from Serbia seldom went there to visit, even though they learned from an early age that KiM was the cradle of their civilization, and the Battle of the Fields of Blackbirds, and so on. I have never been to Kosovo, although I was raised and lived in the US, so I did not really have the opportunity. I can see both sides of this Kosovo dilemma, but I must admit, majority should rule. The Serbs in N. KiM should get autonomy and self rule, otherwise there will be no peace, and that is of vital importance. I just hope wise heads prevail in both the leadership from Pristina and Belgrade, with the assistance, and arm twisting, of the West. If the N. KiM Serbs acquired their own self rule, and the Serbian monasteries throughout Kosovo are protected and respected, the Albanians should be allowed to manage their own affairs. Serbia does not have to formally recognize an independent KiM, but it does not matter, there are ways around that, so it will not be of importance. Peace to all, we are afterall neighbors.

Not ideal for either party, but very creative. From Serbia's perspective, accepting laws from Pristina is based on the premise that Kosovo is Serbia under the Serbian constitution. Serbia can (will have to) amend its constitution to deem Kosovo autonomous giving it legislative/ exec powers. So, Serbia will not recognize Kosovo* as independent, the north falls under the jurisdiction/ laws from Pristina, yet the Serbs in the Community of Serb Municipalities (whatever it is called) will have some local executive/ legislative powers (how much is to be seen - and will it be enough for the Serbs north of ibar to accept). From Kosovo*'s persepctive, Pristina can claim that it has control over all Kosovo*. How much real control is to be seen. At the end of the day, it really freezes the conflict, allowing each party to claim some sort of victory (spin, spin, spin) - Serba can still claim Kosovo is Serbia and Kosovo* can claim it has full sovereighnty - likely getting a few more recognitions.
