@ Ian: According to UN resolution 1244 article Kosovo is still part of Serbian territory and as a result any move to created a new government is illegal. Serbs have right to VOTE and decide for them selves in their own country. Just because Kosovo has a majority of ethnic Albanian populace does not give it right to declare de facto independence, one needs to take into consideration the 6.5 million Serbian population of Serbia to VOTE on it. Besides, Albanian who live in Kosovo were given Autonomy and many status rights but instead they wanted to create a "greater Albania" which in turn the hypocrite U.S and some western two-faced nations gave them the support. In turn, if any pro Albanian out there thinks Kosovo should be fully taken over and run by Albanians, just don't complain when other minorities around the world or your own country deserve the same status! And above all, if we will now start handing out independence to everyone then lets give it to every ethnic, racial, religious, political group in the entire world! The UN/NATO is the devil that is dividing and conquering the world while playing devils advocate= but the truth is out there, people are waking up: You know who you are, your days are numbered! Balkans history sow many invaders and tyrants came and went. And eventually this Kosovo question will soon vanish and all the scum who supported it will crumble away! K. Albanians let Serbs have freedom, they gave yours!

If Cubans make statment like albos in Kosovo to be separate from Florida do you think Florida will allow any activity of them.
Also Serbia did not recognise KiM as other country.
(Bugar from Skoplje, 16 March 2013 15:52)

That is besides the point, the Kosovo Assembly is the authority to distribute driving licences and regulate transport in Kosovo per UNSCR 1244 which Serbia does recognise.
http://www.unmikonline.org/regulations/2001/reg29-01.pdf
Then in May 2008 UNMIK transferred all powers regarding travel and transport in Kosovo to the Kosovo Assembly's Ministry of Transport and Communications which was in line with UNSCR 1244.

It is unfair to compare Cubans in Florida to Kosovars in Kosovo as they're two completely different situations. For starters Kosovars in Kosovo actually have the legal powers and authority to make such decisions, unlike Cubans in Florida.

That's immaterial... Serbia might not recognize Taiwan as other country, as well. It does not mean Serbia can go an issue driver's licenses there. Sorry, dear, if somebody has told you that Serbia rules the world and Serbia's decisions govern the world, you have been grossly misled.

Incredible that this passes for news. Police took a driving license. Big deal. I am sure Serbian police took the driving license from some guy driving drunk yesterday night in Belgrade. Persecution against drunks in Belgrade, tsk tsk tsk.

It is very ironic, since you label Albanians lowlife, but I wrote a comment calling Serbs a terrorist thugs, and my comment never made it.
OK, you are privileged since you are a serb, and can use any language you wish.

"I'm pretty sure Florida State Police would seize Algerian Driving Licences if Algeria started to issue driving licences to residents of Florida for everyday use"

No, they wouldn't. They would just say, "you don't have a valid drivers' license".

Maybe this hypothetical person opened a bank account in Florida with this ID and needs it to use the account, maybe they signed a contract using it. Police in civilized countries don't take away documents because "they are not ours"

so, are we to understand that the only people who are allowed to drive in kosovo must have a kosovo issued driver's licence? do they not accept driver's licenes of other european nations?
if this external driver's licence does not give the holder the right to drive, what rational do they have to confiscate this (elsewhere) legal document? i know many nationalities can use their domestic license to drive in many civilized countries, but if the intended driver comes from a certain unlisted country they are forced to use an international licence. it certainly isn't confiscated.
Odd how police so often seem to think they are the law or above the law, and not their to protect the law.
(orlando florida, 15 March 2013 21:00)

You've missed the point. You can use other European Driver's licences in Kosovo for temporary use, even Serbian drivers licences. These driver's licences were not seized because they were foreign driver's licences, they were seized because the Serbian Police do not issue Driver's Licences to residents of Kosovo for everyday use in Kosovo.

I'm pretty sure Florida State Police would seize Algerian Driving Licences if Algeria started to issue driving licences to residents of Florida for everyday use. And Florida State Police would seize Driving Licences if Alabama State were to start issuing driving licences to residents of Florida. We're talking about the same country here, the US.
