That is why I have so often called it the United Sates of Piss and Wind. All talk and no action. If they can’t subdue a small state like Syria on their own then they are all BS.
(sj, 14 March 2013 12:26)

I thought you just said that the Americans are thick :) If they were thick they would precisely do the above and subdue a state like Syria. But they are smart. They might talk all day and night about how much they care about the Syrian people, but they just want to use them as cannon fodder to make Russia look bad in the Middle East. Are you that naïve to really believe that the Yankees care about the Syrian people ?! Come on a CE of B92 forums like you can’t be that naïve and take at face value what the Yankees say.
----------

Then look at NATO. It was the largest battle group in the world and with all their modern western weapons they could not subdue the insurgents in Afghanistan.
(sj, 14 March 2013 12:26)

Again, if NATO were to be thick, would do precisely what you say above. But again they are smart. They are not going to waste NATO’s resources to police Afghanistan and resolve a problem for Afghanistan’s neighbors. They got the person they wanted and that guy is now reposing in peace at the bottom of the ocean; as for the rest, good luck to Afghanistan, Russia (or whoever else is around there - China, India, Pakistan, etc.) to deal with it. Again, you are a bit naïve to take at face value what NATO publically says :).

I don't know why you do not post on the Serbian language version. Most of the people reading it would not question you or want supporting evidence because even if they did not believe you they would want to.
You see this thick American knows that the numbers of troops you list is your attempt at sarcasm, but a lot of people probably do not because it is not any wilder than a lot of claims you make.

and I love the way you ramble from one thing to the other because you have no facts to support any of your claims.
Of course South Korea is worried about a rogue attack from North Korea but not because of the US. A nuclear attack would be a one shot deal, North K does not have an arsenal but they might have enough to fit one missle. The number of US personnel is down because the threat of a real invasion is not as great. 20,50,100 thousand troops will not prevent the launching of a single missle, but the troops will be there for an invasion. Not only is there 28,000 US personnel in South Korea, there is another 38,000 next door in Japan. The resources are there should they be needed.
The US is cutting back on military but it is still by far the strongest fighting force.
As far as what the govt will do, I can 100% guarantee it is not to pay Serbia for assets in Kosovo.
I like the use of a movie to prove the criminality of the Albanians over the Serbs. I guess the movie "Behind Enemy Lines" should have taken the place of a trial at the Hague, right?

I absolutely love the way Americans and other westerns have been totally indoctrinated into believing that their governments don’t do things against their laws. Absolutely love it.
And yet we had the Contra gate affair with Ronny Regan; the CIA killing foreign operatives even though at the time it was illegal for them to do it.

Correct there is no ICTY but there is the international criminal court. I haven’t got room here to show you the problems being experience financially by both the EU and US, but suffice to say that South Korea is now so concerned that threats by the North are being taken very seriously as the South now believes that the US will not come to its aid if attacked with nuclear weapons. The South is seriously looking at making nuclear weapons of their own because the US has run out of money. It had 50 000 troops ten years ago but today its down to 20 000.

If you don’t think the EU is in trouble then you need help. Your actually putting Thaci on a level playing field with the US or EU; a leader of a little crap hole that lives hand to mouth using funds from Brussels!!!!!. Are you serious? It’s the Corporations that will benefit not the US Government in any such deal and alongside them people like Wesley Clarke and Maddy Albright. The US Constitution is not worth the paper it’s written on because the US Government has made many a deal like this for the benefit of its corporations – it’s the corporations that run the US government not the other way around.
Deals have been done in the past around the world and all to the determent to the locals, but hugely beneficial to the corporations. Take a look at Nigeria or South America.
As far as permits are concerned, the US could get those in ten minutes. Thaci will be told where to sign and if he does not then bye bye Thaci and very soon off to the Hague for war crimes. Kosovo is about as significant as a fly on the back of an elephant where this is concerned.
The most important item here is while Belgrade disputes Kosovo, no one will put a shovel in the ground. Not even the US.

Neither the US federal government nor any of its states enter into agreements regarding what they would consider to be private businesses, except in the most extreme circumstances.

Well, US (elites) are going to get their way. They were always after the resources of Kosovo and that was their only reason for backing Albanians. Bondsteel was not set up to protect anyone but to protect interests.
If Serbia agrees to be raided then Albanians won't have any value any longer. It is looking like Serbia has agreed to "share" the resources of Kosovo. What else can they do? If they continue to "share" more then I am guesing "Kosova" will never be a reality.

Perhaps it is but I wouldn't completely write it off. There is some logic to it as getting to those resources, for an internationally established company, has too many legal problems to make it viable without Serbia's agreement.

Any court case arising from this, would put "Kosovahh"*'s status at jeopardy, considering the court would have to consider "Kosovahh"*'s international status (i.e. UN) and not that of individual nations. It is just full of legal problems.

Now making a deal with Serbia overcomes that problem and lets not forget that Trepce is in the Serbian dominated area. I went to see it not too long ago and it really is in a poor state. Hopefully, something like this can revive it and work for Serbia. No point in turning away viable investments.

"This is a draft agreement, which should later become a final contract between the two states, which would, in fact, annul dubious privatizations that were carried out by Kosovo Albanians and their privatization agency that in this way seized and sold Serbia's assets," according to the article.

This is a Serb dream. The Albanians have a deep sense for property and business. And why US? Could Serbia also make this deal with Peru or Bangladesh about the mines? There is only one solution for Serbia-all court disputes are useles after YU is not more existing: Serbia should put ALL Albanian property within Serbia under the rule of a trustee agency like Treuhandanstalt in Germany was. fter this in long long negotiations Serbia can exchange property of the Albanians in Serbia against Serbian property in KS as land gainst land, buildings against buildings. The former owner of property within KS are getting their money after the sale of the property in Serbia. All other ways are dreams. This way would also bring Serbia to a national state which is ususal in Europe and the gurantee for real peace. What not belon gs together must seperated. The Albanians made a war for this. There is no more space for dreams from yesterday. What will bei 50 or 100 years is a question of history. But also this looks more in direction of Greater Albania. And so Serbia ist better prepared for such a developemtn not to have the a "Fifth Column" within the country with the same demnads like now.

Careful Illinois, this is a classic scam, you are being sold something the seller does not own. Like somebody else's house. And then when you go to look at what you bought, you find other people living in there.

But I think this piece of news is fake. Maybe two guys at a bar in Illinois spoke about this as a possibility between the fifth and the sixth beer and it became news in Serbia.

Zoran

pre 11 godina

LOL! If true, this would be a slap in the face to Pristina. Those dubious sales would not stand in an international court simply because "Kosovahh"* is not a UN member and has not right to sell property of Serbia.

However, with the US coming to some agreement with Serbia, no international courts need involvement. Pristina could simply be told to sit down and shut up while the US makes investments and Serbia gets half the profit. Lets not forget that Trepce is in Kosovska Mitrovica so that should provide lots of employment to Serbs.

Once all these negotiations are done with the EU and US, I can see the Serbian areas thriving (Mining in K-Mitrovica, Skiing in Strpce, historical and religous importance of other Serb areas) while Albanians will end up like the Muslims in BiH - broke, unemployed and barely surviving. But then, they are used to that anyway.

So if true, I wonder how many other opportunities this opens? It could also signal the US dropping support for K-Albanians* like a hot potato. Some are finally realising that legally sound investments go through Belgrade and not Pristina. LOL!

LOL!

This is a complete farce. First state govt nor fed govts in the US enter into business contracts such as this. 2nd Illinois would never enter into a contract with Serbia for assets the US govt claims belongs to Kosovo.
This will go no where and is simply a concoction in someones mind for whatever reason they want.

As messed up as this all is, if its true then I would be worried if I were the Albanians. Serbia getting 49%? And once those mines are extracted and its resources are used up the U.S. will do what I have been saying all along, leave and never come back.

The State of Serbia deserves the billions of dollars worth of reserves under these mines. But the most important thing here is that the Americans get what they want and leave. Our holy land has no price tag. If this is what it takes, so be it.

Serbian Minister of Natural Resources Milan Bačević "reached that deal during the last week's visit to the U.S. State of Illinois", the tabloid, quoted by Tanjug, claimed, basing its report on "sources close to U.S. administration".

The word " tabloid", explains the validity of this news.

"This is a draft agreement, which should later become a final contract between the two states, which would, in fact, annul dubious privatizations that were carried out by Kosovo Albanians and their privatization agency that in this way seized and sold Serbia's assets," according to the article.

The US is cutting back on military but it is still by far the strongest fighting force.

Are you that naïve to really believe that the Yankees care about the Syrian people ?! Come on a CE of B92 forums like you can’t be that naïve and take at face value what the Yankees say.

They got the person they wanted and that guy is now reposing in peace at the bottom of the ocean; as for the rest, good luck to Afghanistan, Russia (or whoever else is around there - China, India, Pakistan, etc.) to deal with it.

LOL!

The State of Serbia deserves the billions of dollars worth of reserves under these mines. But the most important thing here is that the Americans get what they want and leave. Our holy land has no price tag. If this is what it takes, so be it.

Kosovo is about as significant as a fly on the back of an elephant where this is concerned.

and I love the way you ramble from one thing to the other because you have no facts to support any of your claims.
