U.S. against executive powers for Serb municipalities

"The US doesn't want another Republika Srpska in kosovo". Now that is a pretty amusing comment since Republika Srpska is the functional half of Bosnia. I guess the US is content with a nonfunctional kosovo like the Bosnian Federation.

These US-guys should be very noiseless, when it comes to european politics. they have their own problems. So stay away from europe and manage your own politics in the states.

It's also very funny, when a US-guy tries to tell us, that he doesn't want a republika srpska in kosovo. Remember - the propoposal for the creation of the republika srpska came from the US

I thought that Republika Srpska was created by the Dayton agreement which gave birth to Bosnia Hercegovina as we know it today. That was supposed to be the masterpiece of US diplomacy which ended a horrible war. How come now it has become an example to be avoided? The Americans should be more sincere and confess that they would have preferred a Serb-free Bosnia but since that didn't work out (as it worked out in Croatia) they had to make a compromise and give Bosnia Serbs their own political entity.

If they want a functional solution, why does the US support the Pristina government? Nothing is 'functional' there but corruption and crime.

Seriously, compared to Kosovo, Bosnia is a high-level state.

Yea lets blame Putin, for NATO not being able to deal with Yugoslav army back in 1999, and being forced to sign UN resolution 12 44. Only thing that prevents Kosovo from becoming fully recognized country

The US has run out of indians to exterminate. Serbs in Kosovo are just another people in a long line...

Serbia might as well forget it all. It will not, and should not get what it wants for the serbs in the north. It showed absolutly no flexibility in the talks so far and will have to give up its so called platform if it wants to get anywhere. It is not making friends anywhere in the EU, and everybody has heard their BS often enough. Just sit on uncle Putins lap and cry a bit. You will see than what you lost out on, but than it will be too late.

If you think about it, RS was one of the best things America created in the last 20 years. No wonder they hate it because in comparison to everything else, it works like a Swiss watch :)

Tsk tsk tsk guys, I know history can be bended, but there must be a limit, otherwise you will offend a lot of people who fought on the ground for the survival and creation of RS. You know, the Serb "heroes" commanded by Mladic around Srebrenica in July 1995 for example.

The US should stay out of internal affairs of other countries. What right do they have to dictate what happens in other countries?

Well, just in case you've not heard the news from the last three years, Vuk fought tooth and nail to make it clear that Kosovo's Declaration of Independence was in accordance with UNSCR 1244 - so that chapter is closed thanks to Vuk's excellent work.

As for who was or was not forced to accept UNSCR 1244, I think we can refer to what Serbia stated in the UNSC chamber minutes before UNSCR 1244 was approved on June 20, 1999:

"By adopting the present text of the resolution, the Security Council would write out one of the darkest pages of its history. In doing so, not only would the Security Council be instrumental in a de facto dismemberment of a sovereign European State, but would also set a negative precedent with far-reaching consequences for overall international relations"

"biological" Austrian = Serb born in Austria? If "biological" Greek, Italian, Spaniard, French or German, all these "biological" Europeans proved since WWII that they can't manage their affairs without the US leading them. Their inability to do something on their own without US leadership was especially visible in the nineties in the Balkans. The US had to step in and guide them. Also, as Rocky pointed out they had to be saved by the US after WWI and WWII.

We never wanted a break up of Yugoslavia so that blows your theory of greater Serbia right out of the water.
We the Serbs, were attacked in our homes in Croatia and Bosnia because Croatians and Bosniaks wanted their own states without us in them or with us totally submitting to their former Nazi selves.
Please tell us what is your proof of us wanting greater anything. Did we attack the Croatians, Bosniaks and Albanians in order to expand anything?

I think you got something wrong: The RS is a constitutional entity of Bosnia-Herzegovina. There's only ONE self-declared Republic in the Balkans. It is called the 'Republic of Kosovo'. But for one thing you are right: This self-declared republic can surely be called a failed stated: One of the most corrupt 'states' in Europe, it is ruled by mafia clans and election faking politicians who turned this place into Europe's main drug hub.

Bosnia a functioning entity my behind. They're at the merci of RS, who have the power to veto anything and why pretend otherwise, RS is controlled by Belgrade's tentacles. It's better to lose the North totally than give Serbia ANY hand in Kosova's sovereignty

This debate about functional and less functional states is really pointless. No functional state has emerged from the ruins of ex Jugoslavia and that's that. They are all disfunctional little protectorates, with corrupted elits or local mafias reigning over them, totally dependent and attached to foreign powers in order to survive (the elits not the states). It's really sad to see what has become of a great once country. I think my comment will be best understood and appreciated by the people who still live in the geographical aera which was once Jugoslavia.
