The question one should ask old Ivo is how small is this power going to be? He should get another speech writer because Croatia is NOTHING in the EU.

Yes, Croatia should. History has proven, when one is weak, larger better equipped rogue nations, try and take advantages of these weaknesses! Had the aggression of Serbia in the 1990s happened just 10 or 15 years earlier, when the CCCP was still a viable threat to the democratic & western world & their interests, I am sure what we would have witnessed in the Balkans, would have made the wars of the 1990s that took place in the balkans, look like child's play! The western and democratic world in my opinion, should look at the long term interesrs & stability of this region! In the future, who can say if evil may re-emerge?

@Bob

I am not surprised by your comment, apparently you are one of those people who have never been to school. Hence your ignorance.

Trying to be smart is what uneducated ignorants like you do. Cause it is the only thing they can do.

"What a funny speech. A small country with no history, no contribution to science and civilization, no serious educational infrastructure, no real industrial backbone to think that it can soon be a power...."

Sorry, thought you're talking about serbia here.

Well said Truth. If you want to become a global power, then you must have some kind of resume in history. Yours is not good. Why not just stick with making Croatia into a civilized state with the perspective of a people who have had a hard time of things and are willing to set out for the future on a different step. That's the best you can do, I think, and you'll very lucky if your blood soaked history and unrepentant attitudes towards it don't come back and destroy you.

You think you can have a relationship with China and Russia? China, maybe. They too have a history of exporting poisonous milk.

Croatia should be “small power instead of small state”

Mr Ivo, y'all can even become a super power like the US and Russia combined, but until you and Germany come clean on your Operation Storm time logs and your Croatian concentration camps and the crimes against Serbs, Jews and Gypsies, you will always be a heartbeat away from total destruction by the Serbs the first time a realistic opportunity presents itself. It's human nature, and that's what human beings do that want closure and the truth about their loved ones to be revealed.
We are all the children of Truth, and those that realize that fact strive for it. Unlike the Catholic Church, which is not only complicit in your crimes and hiding them, but they actually participated in the torture and murder of Serbs. They are just like your "famous" nuns, priests and your future Catholic saint--none other than your Croatian Nazi butcher Cardinal Stepinac, who has a Catholic high school named after him in one of the wealthiest per capita cities in the US. http://www.stepinac.org/
I guess the EU is not really interested in lasting peace in the Balkans, since they are using their damnedest and evilest--like the Catholic Popes--to hide the truth that can bring long overdue closure and contribute to lasting peace in the Balkans.
The Good Lord works in mysterious ways--way too mysterious for us here to contemplate. All is according to His Plan, not mine.

According to him, Croatia’s foreign policy has had characteristics of a small state since 1990 and the mail goal of such states it to “have a policy of keeping quiet in order to avoid making enemies”.

“There is often a ‘big brother’ that steers them toward the goals. We will act as a part, meaning a representative of the EU in the region as of July 1,” Josipović stressed. What a idiot you are Josipović a sad day for Croatia with EU idiots like you. Don't forget barely 30% of Croatians voted to join the EU of the eligible voters. With a one sided unwilling tax payers money funded relentless shameful bevy of propaganda http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGA5SsrfJkE of lies. Josipović the political stooges like you will sell their souls no no sold their souls and Croatia. To get a brain dead morally corrupt job in the EU bureaucracy. Because they bribe you with a job offers and 1000% increase in wages if you become their brain dead quisling marionette stooge truly shameful the likes of you.

A small power, not a small state.

This sums up the EU. EU members are required to give up statehood.

Croatian national goals and aspirations must now be "articulated."

"Articulated" is a fancy word for "explained" or "defined." And to whom must they be articulated? Why the Germans, of course.

In a few months Croatian sovereignty and independence will be gone and Croats will no longer be in control of their destiny, that role will be given to foreigners.

When 5 million Afghans, Pakistanis and Africans arrive in Croatia, Croats can articulate their concerns to their German masters, but it will make no difference.

Croatia - Born 1991 - Died 2013. RIP

Why just small power? Why not super power? Why not bigger than China and the US?

Croats must wake up, they are not who they think they are. Sad but also very funny.

Even Croatia is begining to realize that the future lies in making businesses with the Eastern block. America and the Eu has had its 15 minuters of fame.

Illusions of grandeur. Ask Slovenia what EU accession meant for them. Their president recently complained that the current situation in the EU reminded him of Yugoslavia: some states are rich and others are poor and there is no solidarity. Ironic, since Slovenia had no solidarity with the other Yugoslav republics and wanted out. Slovenia went from top Yugoslav republic to bottom EU member and that fate awaits Croatia. Recently Germany blocked migrant workers from Romania and Bulgaria to move to Germany and Holland has made the same demand for Croatians.
It will be a long long time that any former Yugoslav republic or any other Eastern European country will be a 'small power' any time soon.
