THIS is what people think about when they hear of Croatia, a cool vacation spot emerging from poor past. What do people think when they hear of Serbia? Things on the news: Mladic arrest, Karadzic arrest, violence in football and against gays.
Wes, Serbia is twice the size of croatia so that's the kind of 'level playing field' you really need isn't it. No Wes, enough is enough. No more bloodshed. The PEOPLE have been used as pawns long enough. Croatian pawns, Serbian pawns, German pawns, British pawns, French pawns, U.S. pawns, Austrio-Hungarian pawns 100 years ago, Turkish pawns for centuries...yet the two nationalities share far more things in common than not. What I think needs to happen is that Croatia needs to swallow their b.s. pride and openly admit to what they did. Openly admit to what they did in WW2, come completely clean, and what they did in the 90's. Open all of Tudjman's plans, and the slaughter they planned of the Serbs. The Serbs don't deny their responsibility in Croatia as much as Croats deny, but they also need to openly come clean with everything they did in the 90's as well. They also need to do this as a healing process...not a finger pointing, see we were right you were wrong and guilty process. Until there is a sincere engagement, with a sincere show of remorse, and sincere apologies, all you have is future generations not even born yet who bear zero responsibilities to this situation being born to continue some ridiculous hatred and propaganda.
Two bitter, bitter enemies...the U.S. and England went through this hatred, and today are huge allies. I would love to see that start to form with Croatians and Serbs, as well as Slovenians and Bosnian Muslims. No outside regions or countries are more important that those around you, especially those you are so similar to.
