So Albanians in Macedonia should be barred from certain gov. positions? Interesting. Tell me again, why should Albanonas in Kosova want to be a part of Serbia with attitudes like that? I wonder if you think Serbs in Croatia should be banned from Croatia's top positions too

out of curiosity Peggy, in what way is this the craziest thing one can do? Surely his ethnic backgrounds is of no importance here, only his competence in the job should matter. After all, over 20% of Macedonia's population are Albanians and they are citizens too. why should their ethnicity keep them out of gov. positions?

It all depends on which government positions they are after.

His ethnic background is extremely important because he is Albanian first and Macedonian second.
Like any other Albanian and this is proven time and time again in any country where there is a sizable Albanian population.

So his allegiance is to Albania first and that makes him very dangerous. BTW, he has proven where his allegiance is.

Ari Gold,
Stop spreading non sense. A peace treaty (Ohrid) was negotiated, giving Albanians more rights , in order to avoid the break up. The delay in full implementation of it, it's raising the tension in the area. In my opinion, the state of Macedonia is a viable solution as long as Albanians are not discriminated against. Both nations are surrounded by states that want their territory, and getting along is the only solution. It is going in that direction, last summer people of Albania and Macedonia needed no passports to travel in each others country, only national IDs. Obviously there are forces that don't like that and incite violence. Those forces don't like Albanian flag decorating the streets of Skopje as they did in the 100 anniversary of Albanian state independence. But the fact that it did, shows that Macedonians also understand that Albanians are not their enemy. So provocateurs like you will have their day in the sun once in awile, as in the last couple of days, but that will not stop the progress made.

Sloga football fans (Sverceri) and people from Macedonian fan groups did fight out over the last 2 days. Now it is calm again.

Comander in chef is the president of Macedonia, not Talant. Talant only do some paper work. He even had a better influense of the army between 1991 to 2001 as one of top 3 officers in ARM.

95% of the soliders are Macedonians anyway.

Fatmir Besimi has been Minister of Defence of Macedonia over the last 2 years http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fatmir_Besimi

DUI replaced him. VMRO have 32% and 9 minister post, DUI have 8% and 3 ministers.

This behaviour of some youngsters is a result of failed economic policies in this country, in a country where government officials act and behave like gangsters. Obviously this is trickling down to the ordinary people.

This is a general scene all over the Balkanise countries.

These FYROMians are playing with fire. This is exactly how you loose territory. Perhaps, they're not smart enough to see it.
(cry me a river, 2 March 2013 14:53)

It's 'lose' territory & not 'loose' territory. When your belt is not tight enough, it becomes 'loose'.

When land is stolen from you by Albanians then you 'lose' territory.

Btw we all know you use different names to comment on B92 but I guess you're just not smart enough to know it. You must feel a lacking of true identity.

Oh this is rich. Albanians causing trouble all over the place and Serbia has something to do with it. What influence does Serbia have in Macedonia? If they did, Macedonia would not have recognised Kosovo.

Putting an Albanian in such an important position as the defense minister is the crazies thing you can do. So then this must be Serbia's influence too for Serbia wishes to destroy Macedonia from within.

If Macedonia wants to implode so let them achieve it.

Ron,

Are you still sleeping?

When you wake up read more to find out what are the problems in Macedonia. In principle I am for respect of territorial integrity....but that doesn't mean that the state being allowed to oppress "its own people".....especially the huligans....

The Albanians here are very thirsty to occupy more land. FYR Macedonia is very important, there is no way the West could sell to the world a Greater Albania. They simply will not help the Albanians if war breaks out in FYR Macedonia.

And we all know what happened last time the Albanians fought FYRomians, they lost..because the West would not help.

Presevo too, and Mitrovica. Whenever NATO is not involved, the Albanians lose. It's a rule of thumb.

Not good to se kids get beaten up. But huligans are huligans not civilian.

18 albanians (all in Bitola prision today thank god) murdered 4 Macedonian kids for no reason a year ago. Much worse than to beat up someone. Still I do not support huligans.

DUI most bring back the old minister of defense (he wos albanian too). Macedonians are not upset that a albnian is minister of defense (since it has been so over last 2 years). Just upset about he new one who did leave Macedonian onece and fight against it.

Football huligans on bothe sides. Anyway Albanians are not looking for
coexistence nor human rights they are looking for great Albania and they know it.

Why did political pary DUI replace the former defense minister (who also wos Albanian) with some one who are controversial just weeks before local elections ???.

Talant wos high senior officer in Yugoslavia army, and between 1991 to 2001 he wos one of the 3 top officers in Macedonian army since then he switched side 2001.

So he had a very good job back than, what human rights did he fight for ???.

Macedonian and ethnic Albanians. Why do you B92 keep using the term "ethnic"? It seems like you want to proclaim albanians like some foreigners in these areas?

If macedonian policy continues like this , they`ll soon see macedonia disintegrate in 2 pieces

150,000 signatures that's it? Why, the Albanians should easily collect 500,000-750,000 signatures. so that they can then remove certain Macedonian politicians from their governmental posts! Maybe even the president & prime ministers themselves! It takes 2, to tango you know!!!
