Mike C: My understanding is that a majority of the indictments related to Kosovo 1998-99 and therefore post dated Dayton. The salient point with regard to Bosnia is that the collection of the necessary evidence and testimony was all but impossible while the conflict was ongoing. Once it had come to an end (at Dayton) the serious business of going after Milosevic began. Likewise for Tudjman who conveniently died before his day in court. It's possible that Izetbegovic might have been indicted but in light of the fact that Ganic, a far shadier character, escaped an indictment I doubt that Alija would have been 'invited' to the Hague.

That's your right to your opinion. But I bet that I can balance you--and if you are not too overweight I can also spin you like basketball while laying on my back.

You think one aquittal of a serb hero will justify the legitimacy of the Hague tribuneral? The Hague is aimed at justifying Nato aggression on Serbia. Very few serbs in Hague are guilty of any crimes and the release of one is not changing anything. Milosevic was all of the sudden guilty of war crimes in Croatia and Bosnia. After the wars in these two countries Slobo went to Dayton USA. Whay didn't they arrest him there? No, they waited until he had no more power in Serbia before they acused him of warcrimes. Same with Mladic and Karadic. Countless negotiations with foreigners and nobody said a thing. I can't wait for the demise of western civilazation.

Says someone who associates with a country that looks at their own war criminals as national heroes and celebrates ethnic cleansing as days of thanksgiving and nationhood. You're the LAST people to opine on denial of guilt.

Of course it is "good news" when a Cetnic gets acquitted, but when it is an Ustasa than the world is coming to an end the the Hague is just another anti-Serbian institution which the brave and honest Serbs have to contend with.

Sure Seselj will be released soon also he will be bringing a lot of rusty spoons to settle scores in Serbia. Ivica will be forming the next coalition government with him.

As well as negating accusations about Serbia's past role in regional conflicts, does Dacic believe that this verdict also negates some of the accusations of bias against the ICTY? It seems to me that everyone thinks that their generals were heroes and the others criminals. I don't know whether Gotovina, Delic or this 'gentleman' were innocent or guilty of the charges against them but one either accepts the validity of the court's rulings (and existence) or not. I will be happy when the final case has been tried and the whole show closes down, not least because of the huge amount of taxpayers' money that has been spent (wasted?) on many of the trials.
