..that country adopted a law that holds producers of GMO responsible for damages if there is contamination of organic or conventional agricultural produce. That prevented farmers from producing GMO since they would be sued by organic or conventional farmers.

Not really a solution because we're not Germans and Serbia is not Germany, remember that? Back in 80's was great affair with toxic/cancerogenic paints and whole Germany was literary dismantled into peaces till last traces were removed. What do you think we paint those days in Serbia?

I think we must decide first what we want to take a stance and bring the laws according to that. We cannot proclaim Eco-state but why shouldn't we go toward that? On particular domain I think every political party should seriously cooperate and support Green Party or independent green politicians beside its own interests, this should be their moral obligation.

Anyway, "Product of Serbia" or "Product of Serbia" could be two different things when we're GMO or GMO-free accordingly.

They're watching us, year by year http://tinyurl.com/GMOSerbia but we should watch them too as a market because it'll be much more difficult for them to ban import of healthy products forever then for us to keep GMO ban in place and wait them to "brake". GMO took the ground and it cannot disappear but we could have our chance in all of that. I am requesting GMO information when ordering online as many people in EU or US do. No GMO!

Freedom of choice is not enough. If GMO are allowed than freedom of choice is over because introduction of GMO sooner or later leads to contamination. You either completely forbid GMO or do what Germany did: that country adopted a law that holds producers of GMO responsible for damages if there is contamination of organic or conventional agricultural produce. That prevented farmers from producing GMO since they would be sued by organic or conventional farmers.
