Aflatoxin is indeed a serious concern and it is good to have a milk supply without it. The way that it gets into the food supply is when crops like corn are under drought stress and have insect damage. There is no connection between that an whether the crop is GMO. In fact GMO insect resistant varieties are less likely to be contaminated. Biotech crops are also being developed that are more drought resistant which could also reduce the risk of aflatoxin contamination.

To drink milk or not to drink it, that is the question now. We have been fed up with contradictory and self-contradictory releases in media by the agriculture minister by twisting facts and trying to hush up uncomfortable truth about milk toxicity and accusing DS for reportedly spreading speculations in reportedly toxic milk affair. The minister’s statements and actions have been vague. When neighboring countries removed milk from sale due to aflatoxin, he sidestepped the issue of toxicity in milk consumption . When relevant laboratories in Vojvodina proved that milk is toxic, Minister accuses Vojvodina secretary Ješić that he upsets the public and causes confusion in the market and states that he (Ješić) advocates replacing locally produced feed with foreign one with genetically modified organisms. The speaker of the Republican parliament also ruled out Ješić’s release stating that it poses a danger to Serbian agriculture, so trying to ‘’dispel the rumours’’. In a few days we’ll find out ‘’whose frauds will be exposed.

Knežević reiterated that the importer lobby, which would like the locally produced goods to be replaced with foreign ones with genetically modified organisms, was behind the aflatoxin affair. Same old conspiracy theory excuses from old school Serbian politicians. I feel like I'm back in the 90's. You will never hear, "I/we made a mistake", from these old political hacks. If the nation's milk was tested for Aflatoxin on a, let's say weekly basis, as it should be, there would be no contaminated milk scare in Serbia today. In other words, if you were doing your job, Mr. Knjezevic. BTW, were the milk problems in Croatia and BiH also created by the GMO importers lobbies? This guy is tripping over his own lies.
