Cool Idea!
Bulgaria is already making a high speed railway and so is Turkey.
If The connections between Budapest and Belgrade will be made, and they extend it to Nis and Bulgaria, and if Hungary will also build a extension to Wien/Bratislava then there would be a full high speed rail connection from turkey to western Europe.

And China is very modern in building high speed railway, here a few months ago in December 2012 they opened a high speed railway from Beijing to Guangzhao (2000+ km) with an average speed of 350 km/hour.

I really hope they will build it sooner or later it would be needed :)

mick,

Have you ever asked yourself how the Chinese finance the building of its new railways, or cities, or airports? They print new yuan (Chinese money) and pay it to Chinese companies which employ Chinese workers. These Chinese workers spend this Chinese money on other Chinese goods produced by other Chinese workers.

This is how China grows.

Serbia could do the same. It could print Dinars and pay this to Serbian companies to build new railways, roads, etc. These Serbian companies would use Serbian workers who would spend their pay (in Dinars) on other Serbian goods produced by other Serbian workers. This way the newly produced Serbian infrastructure would be owned by the Serbian government with no debt. A million unemployed Serbs would also have jobs and pay and the whole country would awaken from the coma it has been in since 1944.

Other sources are speaking about the idea of the embassy of Eritrea in Sofia ot built a huge airport at the border bwetween Eritrea and Serbia in corridor 74635, Germany is ready to finance the giant project together with Albania and Columbia. Serb informed corles are speaking that soon 1234 leading companies will "arrive" in Serbia

It's a sad day when you rely on your investment and vision to come from China and Russia. These trains are constantly crashing in China where life is cheap. I guess Serbs know that too and their Hungarian neighbors would find that out too if (but I very much doubt) this project is ever realized.

Brilliant idea - one of the flattest routes in the world should make building it quite easy.

What can be done about Hungarian taxi drivers ripping off people at the airport though?

Back in 1992, the European Commission defined the idea for the construction of the Belgrade-Budapest railway as one of the priorities in the sector of the development of railway infrastructure.
--
And then the EU, particularly Germany, messed it up by provoking the whole region into war.
