Well sometimes it's a case of the politicians switching things or breaking promises after they are elected, or the Serbs giving little or no real choice among the candidates. Then there is probably a degree of voter fraud and some non-Serb traitors in Serbia skewing the vote.
(ida, 23 February 2013 02:05)

Ok, so I understand that you are saying that Serbs are not capable to elect somebody who really represents them... i.e. a failed state.

no idea what that has to do with the article here or my comment. serbs here persist they do not want to join the EU, yet Serbs keep voting for proEU parties. weird! if you do not want the union, vote for those who don't want it either

To bad we serbs can't chose Albanian president Bresish. Not that he is anti-EU but the EU is anti-Berisha. With him sittning in Belgrade we wouldn't have to worry about joining the union.

Hehe, that's your response!

Are you sure Greeks don't do drugs, pimping and organ harvesting?
When was the last time you scrolled the streets of Athens to see the many lost soul teens on drugs? What about the red light "stores" that flourish like mushrooms in Athens?

Greece should pull out of the Euro and go bankrupt. They will be poor but on their own terms. Stamp out corruption and make the rich pay or seize any assets in Greece.Cut all salaries at the top severely and ensure health, education, food and housing in exchange for work to rebuild again Just tell the Banksters & IMF to take a jump.
(Leonidas, 21 February 2013 18:29)

Sorry man but you are so delusional. Greece can never do what you say because the corruption in that country bypasses any imaginable level.
And if Greece was not so corrupt, it wouldn't have been where it is now in the first place. You accuse the EU for causing Greece's havoc? EU poured billions for decades in that country and all evaporated in the pockets of the same politicians that are still in power in Greece.
Sure, you can go back to your lovely Drahmes and it will take a ton of paper in Drahmes to convert into one euro.
But as you say, you will have your dignity then!
Maybe if you bring Paparika to power she can fix Greece (just a sarcasm to test how much of a communist you are).

Leonidas

pre 11 godina

Basically what you are trying to say is that Greece has no economy, no freedom and no soul. Right?
(John, 21 February 2013 14:17)

That is correct. When a country loses control over its economy to ECB &IMF is losing its freedom to manage its economy the way it sees fit. It’s not a secret that the banks have also, in effect, taken over the running of the European Union and the United States economies. The banks are implementing recession and unemployment in order to recoup their loses. In the meanwhile banks and politicians will be praying that something, anything changes to get economies moving again.

Greece, has entered its sixth year in recession without a light at the end of the tunnel. Pensions and wages have been drastically cut leaving pensioners with very little for food, rent, utilities and medicine. Young people have no jobs and unemployment rates are approaching 60%.

How can any saving the euro justify this savagery? Greece will not be the end of this as political muscle of the banks will ensure that austerity and hunger and social destruction spreads around Europe and the United States ever more deeply.

Greece should pull out of the Euro and go bankrupt. They will be poor but on their own terms. "Dacic had to compromised, due to extreme EU & US pressure"

I caanot how it looks in practice the "extreme pressure"? Is it that they dont give him personal more money or ask him to prepared to be sent to hague if he doesnt followd the orders? How you can press somebody who has the support of his people? Is dacic also under pressure though the demonstrations of the Serbs from Kosovo? it doesnt looks so. Or is there any feeling of pressure by all the million poor Serbs? Or is only the cheap word by foreigners respected as "Pressure"?

Jeff

pre 11 godina

Rocky- of course i see your point. So why dont you accept substantial autonomy within Serbia as you are asking Serbia to accept autonomy within an independent Kosovo.

Rocky

pre 11 godina

The words he is using now, seem to be more on the positive note? Last week, he was basically telling Serbia that you are nowhere close to obtaining a date for EU accession! I'm almost 100% positive that, I. Dacic had to compromised, due to extreme EU & US pressure... I'm also sensing, H.Thaci & I. Dacic have in-fact finally come to a final agreement... I mean think about it, There was simply no way in hell, that Serbia was ever going to be able to govern Kosova again, it simply wasn't an option, 1st, there would be no way in hell, that the Albanians would allow their country to come under Serbian control again, at least not without another major armed conflict erupting in the heart of the Balkans, a armed conflict which would have defiantly seen other country's of the region also engulfed in the conflict! At the end of the day, I truly think that the government of T. Nikolic understood this danger, if not they were made aware of it by the major powers! Now, what is left, is to slowely & carefully make aware & explain to the citizens that, in-order to find lasting peace, some painful issues had to be addressed & compromised on! Had we had a V. Kostunica in power, I truly believe we would be no where close to a final settlement on this sensitive issue!!!

Serbia is very important for Germany, you can see it a the website of the German embassy....not one word about the talks in Berlin, but b92 needs like ever foreign ambassadors to sent Serbian messages to the Serbs: we are in the centre of the interest and Germany is on our side....Serbia was never more far away of any interest in the German public like today...in a time when in the German public there are plenty discussions about the mebership of Romania, Bulgaria, Cyprus and Greece, there is no will to have the membership of the enemy Serbia in sight....the target is, to have a weak Serbia which is running hungry after a little sausage, and you can put the sausage first into the dirt and the Serbs will be happy to eat it

Helsingborg

pre 11 godina

What to do? There are clearly benefits to getting accession talks. But when it actually comes to joining, i'm not sure I see it. From our neighbours' experience it hasn't done them much good. Just moving sovereignty of one's affairs to Brussels. And to Germany of all people, our mortal enemies. The German inteliigence services are still very active in the Balkans, encouraging Albanian separatism at our expense. It just doesn't pass the sniff test, as Danilo would say. The EU is a vanity project. To create something that goes against common sense. A bit like Kosovo in that respect.
I do not overestimate Serbia's importance. But it is an important country in its way. That is why Serbia has to negotiate against these big power bases. It is a complement in a way. They know Serbia is a most capable and attractive place. And when the Albanians or Bosniaks negotiate, they require hand holding by these big powers. Serbia doesn't. It is where the quality is in the Balkans in almost all areas. And the EU know it. Talk of enlargement fatigue is a red herring. Serbia is a very special case. The heart of Europe, and Serbia should go into these talks with her head held high and proud of it's glorious European history.
