Sorry, Nik, but not a good analogy. The hague is a Western creation, and becasue of its lop-sided verdicts, is highly questionable to many people, not just Serbs. Mr. Brammertz being one. According to this expert, one view "that should not be neglected" is that of British journalist and academic John Laughland, a member of the British Helsinki Human Rights Group, who noted that "the sovereignty of Kosovo is fiction, while real power is in the hands of EU clerks and NATO soldiers".
(Ari Gold, 18 February 2013 17:24)

Very true. Everyone knows that's what its about. Pristina institutions attempted to show how much sovereignty they have when they made the trip up north to Mitrovica in July 2011 and were chased away from the local Serb population.

Mind you, not the state of Serbia (in fact the state didn't even support the Serbs but were urging them to stand down) but just a few locals.

Their "sovereignty" I would call it a facade but its not even that, its so blatantly obvious they don't have any. Serbia can take on anyone of its neighbors but it is no match for NATO and big international interests. So whenever those interests fade, the occupation will be lifted.

What is so amusing about this is that this article is created in one of the most corrupt countries to ever exist and criticizing corruption of others. Even if 1/3 were true it would never rise to the level of Russia. The fact that she claims that Albright and Clark already have these interests when they are in fact only in the planning stage and supposedly Albright has withdrawn her interest in the Telacom shows the level that the author will go with half truths and lies.
@nd it is so amusing to see Serbs claim such a high level of corruption in Kosovo, while overlooking the fact that rich policticians in association with their own mafia are responsible for the unaccounted billions of dollars from Serbian coffers. And anyone can see that the supposed crackdown on corruption is nothing more than a ruse to remove threats from opposition politicians from the present regime in power.

Indeed, very similar. Thus, they became perfect places for doing drug business without any fear of getting arrested.

"Kosovo is a prime example of a mafia-terrorist run state and is on par with Afghanistan - which was one of the first countries to recognize it - and Columbia, Sudan, Somalia."

Indeed, very similar. In all these states, mafia groups and (former) war lords are the real factors of power, there is only corruption and patronage, no democratic structures, no widely accepted power of the state and rule of law. Thus, they became perfect places for doing drug business without any fear of getting arrested.

Elena hasnt got a clue when taking about Kosovo....
(EA, 18 February 2013 14:37)

Agreed. She makes it sound as if Kosovo is this cache of wealth and opportunity that everyone wants of piece of. I've been to Kosovo multiple times. Aside from picturesque monasteries protected by concrete walls and international KFOR soldiers from less than savory elements from the surrounding Albanian villages, there's absolutely nothing worth investing in in Kosovo :)

It warms my heart to see Russians spreading the truth and spitting in the faces of NATO war criminals, everything said in this article is absolutely spot on!
Thank you again Russia, for saying the things that our own treasonous government in Belgrade is afraid to say. We really need Kostunica back, the rest are fifth columnists, collaborators, and 'Vichy Serbs'. It must really make them uncomfortable when Russians show them how to be proper Serbs. Keep it up Russia!
Cheers!!

Ruskies are well know to contradict itself. They will do one thing in their own backyard , but ask the opposite in someone else s backyard. They are the biggest hypocrites in this planet.

Russia and Serbia are in no position to talk about Kosovo. It's like talking smack about your neighbor without ever being in their house. Kosovo is doing fine, Russia and Serbia should worry about themselves. Kosovo needs another hundred years to match to the corruption in Serbia and Russia.

hehe,

I found the article on Google search, and was keen to read it. I was curious of the speculation of some sort. But half way through when I realized its source I just could not read it any more....I could not continue even though I tried as hard as i could. I lost interest completely because comes from Russia.

All I can say is, if one reacts to an accusation by simply attempting to discredit the source of the accusation, then there is usually some truth to the accusation. Is anyone here going to honestly deny that Pristina is not in the hands of Albanian mafia clans? Did Thaci become super wealthy from his government salary, and the prudent investments he made on Wall St.? Remember when we were kids, "I know you are, but what am I ?"

Nobody would know better about a mafia-terrorist state than a Putinesque russian.

-- and like Serbia whose natural resources were looted by the mafia kingpin ruling Moscow, a certain Putin fella, sole owner of a certain Gazprom. He in collaboration with the Serb mafia, a member of which currently heads the Serb government and is in the drug smuggling business loot Serbia for the benefit of the Russian mafia elite. There, corrected it.

You mean the situation in Northern Kosovo? Yes, that's what it's all about: Who's getting the money from illegal activities: Serbian 'businessmen' or Kosovo Albanian 'politicians' or 'custom officers'

According to this expert, one view "that should not be neglected" is that of British journalist and academic John Laughland, a member of the British Helsinki Human Rights Group, who noted that "the sovereignty of Kosovo is fiction, while real power is in the hands of EU clerks and NATO soldiers".

Thanks for confirming. That's precisely what Kosovo wants - i.e. that real power is not in the hands of Serbia.

Thanks for confirming again that Pristina's institutions are not oppressing the Serbs in North Kosovo. They are just collecting customs duties at the boundaries as mandated by UNMIK.

(Marko, 18 February 2013 19:18)

Yes, Kosovo needs some 100 years to get away from being amongst the most corrupt states in Europe and reach the level of Serbia an other neighbors in the Balkans (except Albania, which is even more corrupt). And no, improving the ranking just because corruption in Albania got worse doesn't count.

yes, its what all Serbs on these pages do when it comes to the Hague Tribunal. never once do you acknowledge it as unbiased, but rather a Western instrument - Nikolle
Sorry, Nik, but not a good analogy. The hague is a Western creation, and becasue of its lop-sided verdicts, is highly questionable to many people, not just Serbs. Mr. Brammertz being one. I think you know who he is? As for the article, why do Albanians try and discredit the author, and because she is from Russia, of all things? If you disagree with her opinion, state so, give your opinion, and move on. And BTW, Pristina is certainly a filthier place than Russia. I do not think that Putin deals in drugs, I know that Thaci does.

Yes moris, Pristina looking just like Hong Kong, you got it. I saw Bruce Lee here yesterday. You know how money is washed right? One gets dirty money, opens up a legitimate business and pretends the business is really successful. Like in Cyprus. I really wish we followed Cyprus's example, become a banksta's paradise, but alas, haven't seen many businesses being that successful here. Not to speak about banks.
